OKLAHOMA CITY (AP) -- Terry Porter will fill in as the coach of the Minnesota Timberwolves for a second straight game Wednesday night in Oklahoma City as Rick Adelman tends to a personal matter.
The team announced prior to the game against the Thunder that Adelman would not be with the Timberwolves.
Porter was in charge for Minnesota's 108-103 victory against the Atlanta Hawks on Tuesday night.

It's not his health or his personal problem, something with another family member. Supposedly there is an outside chance he doesn't return at all, according to one beat writer (@DarrenWolfson).

What about his alcoholic son - who is somehow now one of his assistants in Minnesota after being fired from Lincoln High?

Hopefully Rick does whats best for Rick and his family, if it is a major issue.

Wishing the best for Rick.

(Maybe he is jumping ship after learning Love is getting surgery and out 8-10 weeks)

Being Minnesota, I suspect it has to do with cawk pics on the Internet

But I hope all is well with Rick and his fam.

I wanna be at an Adelman family Christmas. The debauchery is probably epic.

I saw him drunk at his home one new years lighting fireworks back in the 90s.

MINNEAPOLIS (AP) -- Rick Adelman is back on the court and coaching basketball after three weeks away to help his wife through a health scare.

His Minnesota Timberwolves lost nine of 11 games without him to fall behind in the powerful Western Conference playoff race.

Adelman helped restore hope in this downtrodden franchise when he came aboard before last season. So the Timberwolves have missed him. In some ways, though, Adelman may need the Wolves as much as they need him.

Adelman ran practice Monday and said he planned to coach against the Clippers on Wednesday night if all is satisfactory with Mary Kay Adelman, who is being treated for an undisclosed condition. Adelman said he delayed his return until he felt it would be for good. He said his wife is improving and he hopes the worst is over.

''It's hard,'' Adelman said, referring to his absence. ''I've never done this. It's never happened. But there's some things that are more important than basketball or anything else. I think the team understands that. Hopefully things will settle down here now.''

Adelman declined to elaborate on his wife's problems Monday. The issue surfaced this month and required her to be hospitalized while doctors set a treatment plan. Adelman missed practice Jan. 7, then missed his first game Jan. 8, a home win over the Atlanta Hawks with assistant Terry Porter filling in........................

If you are already in the public eye like an NBA coach is, why not tell people what is wrong with your wife........ unless she's a fucking drink like his kids. Why be so secretive about it?

Thoughts and prayers go to Mary Kay Adelman, wife of Minnesota Timberwolves coach Rick Adelman, who has been hospitalized in Minneapolis after suffering seizures.

Rick Adelman has missed the last nine Timberwolves games as he tends to his wife of 37 years. Mary Kay has improved enough that she is being allowed to return to their Minneapolis home today. Barring complications, the hope is that Adelman can return to the team next week, with the Wolves beginning a six-game homestand on Wednesday.

Rick was an original Trail Blazer player, the team’s first captain and coach of the 1990 and ‘92 teams that reached the NBA Finals. The Adelmans make their permanent home in Portland. Four of their six children reside here (the other two, R.J. and David, work with the Timberwolves).

Mary Kay was always a smiling, welcome face around Memorial Coliseum during Rick’s tenure with the Blazers. Without question, she is the love of her husband’s life. Family takes precedence over job at times like this. I join those who have been blessed to know Mary Kay in wishing her a full recovery.
