It was genius. She said whatever she wanted and then they usually asked her a follow-up to insist she answer the actual question, which she could answer or just ramble some more. Doubles her time on the podium.well, Bachman stuck by her m.o. of "ignore the question, change the subject so I can blame Obama" for every single answer.
I hate it when candidates do that.
Rick Perry: "Social Security in its current form is nothing more than a Ponzi Scheme."
Which then humorously reminded me of what Flounder, in Animal House, might have exclaimed....
um..why?

Flounder uttered those words right as his cronies had littered marbles all over the road that the band was going to be marching down.
I was just thinking that, even though Perry was attempting to call a spade a spade, marbles were figuratively being spilt. And, I loved it!!![]()
dumb that down a little more. I've never seen Animal House, and I'm not sure if you're saying he was wrong or you support him.
Heck, I've seen the movie and still have no idea what ABM is saying.

Welcome to the Republican Debate.
Perry spit out a direct, if not potentially controversial, response to a controversial subject. No beating around the bush. Exposed himself, really. I could have just seen that Flounder character reveling in what I'm sure will become political fodder.
IMO, Romney won the debate. Perry got knocked around a little and needs to bone up on foreign policy. Bachmann toned down her act, but is losing traction to Perry. I don't think Brian Williams or the guy from Politico could wrap their heads around Paul's ideas. Cain didn't impress. Santorum seemed knowledgeable, but didn't have much of a chance to mix it up. Huntsman was better, but too little, too late. Gingrich was great, calling a spade a spade, but it's clear that he's not expecting to win anything.
For the most part I agree; though not about newt. I think paul needs to explain his ideas in longer sound bites, but those don't relate well in debate format.
I don't trust the car companies to do that though. Even with what has been done (which was only done because they had too and not because they wanted to) I don't they have the incentive to do it
Did Bachmann ever REALLY have a shot at the nomination? If she did, god help that party.
