Are Miller and Camby worth more next year

The talk seems to be if these two key pieces should be traded. But what makes tem valuable to trade around the league. I believe because they are vets who can help a team trying to take another step in the playoffs and they have workable or expiring contract.

But won't these two be more valuable or as valuable next year with an expiring contract?

Unless a team slaps us in the face with propsal for one of these guys, why shouldn't Cho wait till next year to get active with those two players? In other words, why should Cho shop them, if a team wants one them badly enough, Cho will know. If not, let's see what we can get for them next year, assuming we aren't in an intense playoff race.

I think a team that could use either of these guys for a half of a season would probably prefer to have them for 1.5 seasons, and would be willing to give more value for them as a result.

In a normal year, perhaps. The problem is we're facing a lockout that may kill then entire 2011-12 season. At that point, we get bubkis for them.

Not to mention the fact that the collective bargaining agreement is far from a settled issue. Nobody even knows what the caps will be at, and if there will be a hard cap or not. Hell if it works out like last time where each team is allowed to cut one contract from their team no questions asked, a lot of teams might not even be hurting for cap space.

Interesting point I didn't think about. I always hear "expiring contract, expiring contract" so I figure that is what increases a players value.

But yeah, if I'm an organization, I want both these guys for more than half a season. Maybe there are organizations thinking that and calling Cho.

I still think Cho should not be looking to trade these guys away and really be more of the mind set of dealing with any GM's showing real interest in either of the two.

I agree with you there... we don't HAVE to move Miller (or Camby). If there's no market for him, don't give the guy away.
