Arik Armstead will have a big impact on offense I think.

Tonight I was thinking and I know he is here to play defense and I love that but that doesn't mean we wont use him on offense.

Over the years we have lacked power on the offensive side of the ball... Besides the Stewart and Blount year(s). With Arik here I think Chip has something up his sleeve. An old Jim Harbaugh play.

Lining up AA at TE and having him eat up and move defenders at the goal line and have whomever it may be run right behind him for a TD (hopefully Carson!). He wasn't rated the #1 OT in the nation for nothing and we need to use up all the talent possible that he possesses.

Shit, you never know with Chip. You might see Armstead catching a ball sometime during his Oregon career.

AA came here to play defense and that's how we got him. He wants to play hoops too and knows a OLinemans weight will be impossible to drop before hoops season begins..

That said, we'll see how he fares when he playing against against older guys who've seen the highest level of collegiate ball and if he can cut the mustard as a DE. My thought is by his sophmore year he's the best OG in the nation!

Either way it's a win for the Ducks! You can't teach size, and this kid has got skill.

As elite as he could be on the other side of the ball. Chip Kelly specifically said he was here to play defense, and not both sides. I dont have the link though sorry.

I heard Chip say that too on the post recruiting day interview that has been posted here.

Unless AA changes his mind and does what's in the best interests of the team.

Of which team? Haha.

It is not in the best interests of the basketball team for him to be 325 pounds.

Ed O.

UCLA and Josh Smith know all about that one.

6'8 and 285 is a bit heavy to be a 3 in college in my mind. I think it's going to be really hard for AA to be effective as both football and hoops... He may still grow another few inches... I did when I was 19 and 20.... It's possible we could lose AA to hoops soley if he does because he'll have to drop weight to be really good on the hard wood!

I doubt it. He has a better shot at the NFL than the NBA.

He'll be a 4, not a 3.
