....I wonder if that might make Tony Parker "expendable"? And, if so, might KP go after him in a trade to play alongside his countryman, Batum?

Now, wouldn't that be sweet? :)

Batum would have nothing to do with it. The Blazers would be awesome with Parker. The question is do we have anything (that we could afford to lose) that SA wants more than they want Parker? I doubt it. Unless they are secretely in love with Martell, Rudy or Bayless?

Parker would be fantastic, but I can't see any realistic way the Spurs let go of their one star who's got significant years left in his career and especially not to a conference rival.

Portland would have to offer up someone like Roy or Oden, neither of whom I'd be interested in dealing for Parker.

They are old, and their window has all but closed. They can sign another aging vet or two, and hope for the best, and risk falling flat on their face, or start a slow rebuild. They would still want to stay respectable around Duncan, however, as it would be a shame to send him into retirement on a lottery team.

Miller, Joel, Webster, Rudy, and some combo of Claver, Kopo, Freeland, picks for Parker and a sign & traded Manu. Or include Bayless in there, mix and match the pieces of Rudy, Webster, Bayless euros and picks, combined with Miller and Joel's salaries. Miller, Rudy and Martell, along with Duncan, hill, Blair, Jefferson and McDyess, as well as Splitter coming over and possibly Freeland, Koppo, and picks could keep them competitive, while also giving them young pieces for the future. Super long shot, I'm sure they'll just try to re-tool around Parker, but worth calling about.

Miller/Hill
Rudy
Jeffferson/Webster
Duncan/Blair
Splitter

Parker/Bayless
Roy/Manu
Batum/Cunningham
Aldridge/Pendergraph
Oden/Camby
championship

and I'm sure someone would offer more.

Tony Parker is overrated.

Based on what? He's a 20 PER PG, and he's only made 3 All-Star games on arguably the best team of the 2000s. Plus, he's only made the All-NBA 3rd team one time in his career.

Parker is a hell of a player. I actually think he is underrated.

Weird, I've always felt he's one of the most underrated players in the league. He never gets billing as one of the top 2-3 PG's, but he almost always looks like the best PG on the floor no matter who he's matched up with.
