I'm not sure how Western astrology/numerology differs from Chinese and Indian Astrology and so on, but around 2 years ago, my official planetary alignments from the date of my birth were given to an astrologer in my home country. In it, without even knowing who I am, he told my grandmother what health concerns I had or could be facing, and how my life will shape out according to the planetary movements. He also rightfully predicted that my life would take a turn from good to a little bad in a specific summer, and it actually did.

Since then, I have been sold on astrology/numerology. Regardless though, Western astrology is somewhat different then Indian or Chinese, but all of them are accurate to some degree. However, if you want REALLY accurate astrology, you'll need to know your specific birth day (Sunday, etc) and specific birth time. It's really quite interesting.

Nevertheless, the astrologer said that I'm in a negative phase of my life right now with various health concerns randomly popping up, but it's due to a planet's "negative influence", which the astrologer predicted will last upto 5 years. He told my grandmother that it would start from the summer of when I was 16, and that's exactly what happened.

I know this may seem farfetched to those who don't believe in stuff like this, and believe me, I was like you guys too, but recently I have changed my views. The accuracy of the astrologer's statements on not only me, but my brother, my sister and another one of my friends has made me a believer.

So, anyone else believe in it?

Why so? If your life was predicted before hand accurately, would you feel differently?

Not really. Most of the time the predictions are so vague. People then try to fit things that happen to them within those vague predictions (which is real easy), and believe that the system works. I've never really believed in predetermined stuff or in fate.

I'm sorry, but I don't believe in that stuff. A good friend of mine is heavily into Indian and Chinese astrology though. He's actually on this board, but doesn't have the required posts to respond here in the Off-Topic forum. However, I do believe in the word that you use as your user name.

Karma. Big time believer in that. Experienced first hand how it changes everything. I have this crazy story about Karma that involves real life death, but I can't share it here.

I don't know. My uncle is like an ametuer palm reader and he actually predicted what was going to happen in my Dad's life 10 years before it happened. My dad of course laughed at it and didn't believe it but it came to be true to the littlest detail. That is scary as hell.

My point, exactly!
After people about their future, they tend to find something that satisfies the prediction.

I believe in it somewhat. That is, I study it a lot and am very interested in it. I don't let it affect my life aside from the bigger events like Saturn's Return which I am awaiting with great ease.

Saturn is the bad planet right?

Apperently I have the negative influence of Mars or something on my health right now affecting me, which is why I tend to have random health problems from time to time.

Saturn isn't necessarily bad, but more so dark. Saturn takes approximately twenty nine and a half years to orbit the sun and when it reaches the ecliptic point of a person's life is when it's considered to be at it's full return. During that time a person gains insight into what their life is truly supposed to be about. With the completion of Saturn's return, a person should get rid of grudges, bad feelings, or anything negative that's causing a block on their life and it's intended path.

This is highly evident in Mythology as well, where Saturn eats his children as a form of punishment, and cleansing. It's where the astrological background originated from. Also, Saturn Devouring by the painter Goya is one of my favorite paintings.

I think it's bullshit. What they tell you is generally very vague and it's stuff that happens often to most people. Furthermore, you believing it, or even hearing it said, might unconsciously influence choises and other things that you doin your life, which might in turn make the things they said true.

Whats to say that didn't influence your Dad into doing that? Rather then it being a 'prediction'

Well, for one, he laughed it off. Secondly, we came here by chance because one of his friends told him to apply to come to Canada (I'm not sure why), and he declined the offer, but still had a brochure or some information thing laying around the house about it, which my mom ended up finding and then she seriously suggested coming here for our (the kids') sake. My dad agreed to it, but reluctantly because he had a really nice job there. Anyways, all this happened years after the prediction was made.

On top of that, how would you explain my uncle saying that he'd have to study again as well?

It would be nice to see a parallel life if he didn't go to the reader and see if the same thing happened.

However being told, it stays with a person. You can't not say it didn't affect him in some way.
