President Donald J. Trump Signs S. 305 into Law
On Tuesday, March 28, 2017, the President signed into law:

S. 305, the "Vietnam War Veterans Recognition Act of 2017," which encourages the display of the U.S. flag on March 29, National Vietnam War Veterans Day.
So everyone on the east coast you have a hour and a half to fly your flag in honor of Vietnam Vets.

I was only there once, for one short job. It was called French Indo China then. So maybe I don't count.

I'm glad to see it...I served there, interesting he tweets it out naming it the Viet Nam War....most say war was never declared and call it Viet Nam Conflict but I have always called it war myself....shoutout to all my veteran bros out there!

I was taught in middle school about the Vietnam war, not conflict. So I'm not sure most say it wasn't a war.

Being in the military service during the Vietnam Conflict (more on this below) were very difficult times. Not only was this conflict not supported by the people, there were sad instances where military personal were actually harassed for being in the military. Nice to see the Vietnam vets get some long due recognition.

Pres. Johnson was trying to down play our involvement in Vietnam. He needed to send many more troops. But the reserve and National Guard units that were ready to fight were never called up. Since he was not committing all of his available military personal to the fight he called it a conflict rather than a war. However, he used the draft instead, hmmm. That draft screwed up the lives of a lot of young people just starting families.

It was a war Johnson called a conflict.

Great Post. Things that need to be said.

Just one correction on the last part though. He needed not to fabricate a reason to get into this war. It was lost a long time before, by Harry Truman whom was really tired of War.
Uncle Ho ask him to help keep the French from returning to Indo China. Ho had been an ally in fighting the Japanese occupation of Indo China. Truman did not have the will, maybe the insight to help when we held the cards. So he let Ho slip under the bus. We lost that war then. It was never in the cards for you guys to win that war nor did you lose it. You just were in the wrong place in history, but did your best with a crappy hand. Thank you for the lesson, we should all remember.

I almost went there but my draft lottery ball number was 252. I had friends go and some never came back and some never came back the same.
