WHOLE towns have been declared crime scenes as the toll from Victoria's worst natural disaster leapt to 166.

But Premier John Brumby says the Victoria fires emergency will get worse before it gets any better.
"We've still got fires that are not contained," he said.

"There is a huge effort to get them under control.

"Tragically, we will have more deaths later this week."

There are fears the tragedy will have claimed more than 200 lives by the time police complete their searches of towns wiped out by the blazes.

most people have died trying to escape their towns in their cars man! its my last day here in USA, im in san fran right now, my parents have been keeping me updated with everything, the weather in australia, especially in victoria, my home state, has been terrible. once i get back the heat would have calmed down, but every year arsonists cause fires in the summer when it is most dry, and this year was the worst. friends of my family have had two of their friends die in the fire's, its so bad, the worst natural disaster in australia's history.

Definitely sounds like Southern Cal. during fire season. Fucking arsonists should be burned at the stake. Thank God we haven't had a major tragedy in Cali. I wish the best to you and your family, hopefully you and yours stay out of harm's way.
