The Bakersfield Jam (28-18) defeated the Maine Red Claws (16-31) by a score of 117-111 Saturday night at the Jam Events Center. The game included 12 lead changes and 11 ties.
The Jam outscored the Red Claws 66-30 in the paint, 22-5 on the fast-break, and outrebounded them 53 to 35 this evening. But Maine kept this contest close by hitting 11 three's compared to Bakersfield's 4 and converting 7 more foul shots than the Jam, 24-17.
Trey Johnson led all scorers with 37 points tonight. Jeremy Wise had 16 points off the bench on 6-for-7 shooting. Drew Naymick recorded his ninth double-double of the season, finishing with 14 points and 10 rebounds.
All of Maine starters scored in double-figures, led by DeShawn Sims 24 point performance, including 5-for-8 from downtown. Center Magnum Rolle finished with 22 points, 11 of which came in the first period. Antonio Anderson contributed 14 points and dished out game-high 8 assists. Guards Jamar Smith and Craig Winder both had 10 points each. Kenny Hayes added 17 points off the bench, including 3-for-6 shooting from the three-point range.
Bakersfield and Maine will face-off again tomorrow at 4 p.m. PST in the second game of the weekend series at the Jam Events Center.
