Defender Clay Hill of the Buffalo Bandits usually averages about two goals a year. He couldn't have picked a better time for one on Sunday.

Hill notched his first of the season with four minutes left to play, and it turned out to be the game-winner as the Bandits defeated the Boston Blazers, 9-8, before 8,524 in the TD Garden.

The win completed a perfect weekend for the Bandits that moved them into second place in the National Lacrosse League's East Division. They had beaten Rochester on Saturday night at home, so Sunday's win improved their record to 6-3, a half-game ahead of Boston's 6-4.

On the winning goal, Scott Self led a break into the Boston zone. The Bandits usually make a player change in that situation, but Self instead found Hill in the middle of the field. Hill's quick shot seemed to surprise Boston goalie Anthony Cosmo, and went in for the winning goal.
