Mixum just posted this on Oregonlive, lol!

He was just on WFAN in NY. Mike Francesa was saying the bLazers look good. When Barkley was asked about them... he said "i dont like the blazers... they have no big men." He was the asked about oden. "the blazers obviously have no faith in greg if they didnt extend him" and then said the lakers, jazz, and thunder will be the top 3 in the west. he even said "the blazers arent going anywhere"

Poor guy, you know he is just dying to post that on here so I thought I'd make his day and post it for him.

No big surprise, Barkley has always beat on the Blazers for being a jump shooting team. I just don't see the big deal about calling a spade a spade.

Barkley has invested so much in his "Blazers have no big men" drivel that he can't see the forest for the trees. Within the next month, the Blazers should get both Oden and Przybilla back. Two 7 foot centers and two 6-11 PFs seems pretty well stocked with bigs to me.

The Blazers didn't extend Oden, therefore he doesn't count in Barkley's world. So subtract one 7 foot center from that. :)

I think it's funny that you guys are actually trusting that Mixum is being completely accurate in what Chuck said.

The Blazers did not extend Joel as well. We are down to Camby/LMA.

Aiding and abetting. :tsktsk:

Who gives a fuck. About Mixum saying it elsewhere, or the shock of Barkley saying something he's said for 3 years now.

Barkley has bashed Portland for a while about low post play. What he fails to recognize is that OKC and Utah have nothing resembling an inside threat either.

Where I do agree with him is that Portland isn't going anywhere, but I don't think the others are either.

I agree with OKC having absolutely no inside game, but you can't say that about the Jazz. Al Jeff is a beast!

He's wrong. We are the biggest team in the league and it's not even close.

Charles is 100% right. This team playing nate ball and shooting all jumpers is going to get the blazers a first round exit again. Nate ball looks good when those jumpers are falling but the problem is they usually don't fall in a 7 game series when you have a guy right in your face every possession and on the other end your opponent is shooting 2 footers. Without a healthy ODEN in the inside as a scoring threat this team is a 1 and done. And yes charles did say this I get the YES network

Do you mean to tell me a fat, has-been, alcoholic, gambling addict doesn't think the Blazers are going anywhere this season?

I guess it must be true.

Mixum just won the internet. He managed to troll two different forums with the same posting. Impressive!

Chuck is putting on massive lbs. these days. I'm guessing he is ripping a lot of blazers.

I have less respect for Barkley's opinions than virtually any other talking head in television sports. I honestly do not believe he watches basketball beyond a few clips here and there.

He's a Zach clone, IMO. A statistical "beast" on offense, but at what price on the defensive end?

Honestly how many Centers in this league are solid on D? I think I'll take the 20-25 and 10 he can put up and and rely on team defense.

People disagree with Barkely and discredit him because he doesn't like Portland. He is right about Portland though.

But if our weakness is the lack of BIGS............. will his opinion changed in January?

No. Not until we have a low post scoring threat, or change the offense. Portland doesn't shoot as many jumpers as some teams in the league, but I think it's percieved by him that we are a jump shooting team because the ball rarely goes into the post and gets kicked out. Thus a "perimeter team"

How many teams consistently enter the ball into the post? I watch a lot of NBA; outside of Orlando and Houston with Yao, I don't see much of an inside-out game, at least in terms of being a primary offense. Utah, even with Millsap and Jefferson, are running more of a high-post/pick and roll game than a low-post set. Your criticism applies to the majority of teams in the NBA, IMO.

Not mine....well, it is mine, but I was talking about Barkley.

Newsflash Barkley, the Thunder have no big men either.

I'm going to enjoy watching the Thunder fail to meet expectations this year. IMO the top 3 will be 1. LA and then 2 and 3 will be the Mavs and Spurs. Portland comes in 4th.
