Baron Davis on Trail Blazers: The ship be sinking, the ship be sinking

the pressure is really building on the Blazers, it will be very interesting and defining as to how they respond, could be hugely positive or negative

These are the situations that can build character and bond a team facing adversity. I think we'll be fine even if we drop to the 7-8th seed.

yep, big time risk/reward here, turn it around and play well could have some mo into playoffs, play awful and miss playoffs IMO is a disaster

Wasn't it just a few weeks ago Baron Davis was looking for a job in the league? He might be trying to help his cause with a dose of double standard dissing his competition for pt guard contracts

Character\Smaracter, The thing is having the Jail Blazers might have been embarrassing at times but lets admit they where damn good. My point is having good character does not making a winning team. I've said it before and I'm sticking to it, Chemistry might get you more wins in the season but talent will win in the playoffs. Lets not also forget that BDiddy led the Worriers (8th seed) past the Mavs (1st seed) back in 2007.

Good thing we have such expert analysis available too us. Thanks to Baron I've learned that:

(a) LaMarcus being hurt is bad for our success

(b) We are not playing well

(c) We are falling in the standings.

This is why I tune into TNT - I'd have never picked up on any of that on my own - nor be able to express it in such a poorly worded way.

ESPN's Doris Burke/Avery Johnson/Jalen Rose combo today was GARBAGE!!!!!

Yeah, Baron Davis....stick a fork in him, I never called any Blazer team the Jailblazers..didn't show enough character

the "jail blazers" teams were never "damn good".

Unless you count 1st round and out 3 straight years "damn good".

They went to the WCF and should have beat the Lakers. Even Tim Donaghy says the Blazers lost because the refs saved the Lakers.

Um, that wasn't the "Jail Blazers" team.

that they did. but that does not = "damn good".

They were fun to watch. Great 12 game win streak in 2002, I believe. Great turnaround after a 13-18 start in another season. And of course 2003 was the closest this team has been to winning a first round series since 2000.

I miss Sheeds attitude. A lot of people knock him, but we could really use a guy with a "shove it up your ass bitch" kind of mentality.

People only got mad because he was so good it hurt to lose him. I think I just found Meyers leonards role for him.

Well we had Rasheed\Bonzi\Damon as our core.

the team that went to the conference finals in 99 didn't have Bonzi as a 'core' and the 2000 team didn't either. Bonzi in 99 played 7 games, and Bonzi in 2000 was a bench player averaging 8 points a game.

When Bonzi became part of the main group, 2000-01 through 2003-4 (up until he was traded), THOSE teams were not "damn good". There was a stretch in 2000-01 when the team WAS 'damn good', but not after that point.

The 99 team was a core of Grant, Sheed, Rider and Sabonis. The 2000 team that went to the conference finals had a core of Rasheed, Smith and Pippen. Hell, I'd put Sabonis above Damon that year too.

The incidences that caused the nickname didn't start happening until the 2002 season. Damon had the infamous yellow hummer in 2002, the issue with the large amount of pot (overblown imho) was in 2003. I don't remember what year that Damon tried to take weed through the Tucson airport.

Rasheed got suspended for threatening the ref in 2003, started racking up the T's in 01 and 02. The T's, however, weren't really "jail blazer" material, but his childish behaviors didn't help.

Qyntel Woods and Ruben Patterson were not on the 2000 team either.

Because I need acceptance, and want to be with the "in" crowd, Baron Davis is an idiot who knows nothing until he praises the team....Right?

Did you bother to read this thread? No one actually said that.

This thread be sinking, Portland is tanking people they want the Spurs; furthermore, they want the Spurs to be over confident.

Have a little faith, personally I hate the plan, but it is the plan. Portland v Spurs, Mavs v OKC, Memphis v LAC, GS v Houston. Beat the Spurs, give other contenders a tough matchup, and then pray for an easier matchup in round two.

OKC should win but the Mavs should push them to 6 hopefully 7 games. Memphis v LAC is a toss up but the series should go 7. GS v Houston also should be a long tough series. It is a brilliant albeit dangerous plan.

Don't buy it. You can't "plan" to lose just enough games to fall to #8, but not too many that you miss the playoffs. If you ask any one of them they'd take any seed, against any team. Just get in.

We could really use Sheed's attitude right now. I thought Lillard was bringing that aspect but lately everyone seem meh. Rip city has been Brick City in crunch time lately and its almost unbearable to watch.
