Am surprised the way this ALCS turned out, I figured Baltimore in seven not to be. Orioles looked like whipped dogs at the end of todays game, none of there big guys could hit, the roids must have wore out for Cruz. I do believe that a smidgeon of luck may accompany a winner , but it seemed the every well hit Oriole Ball went right to a Kansas City glove but we knew they had a great outfield anyway. The Orioles Pen couldn't hit a bull in the ass with a shovel. Feel kind of bad for Buck. Remembering the Royals Yankees tilts of the late 70's and 80's, ditto Baltimore as well I was happy to see both go into a slumber.
 
I remember how Showalter would bash the yanks and beat them by one run in games. Its your turn Buck bend over and take this goose egg for the bird fans.
 
I'm completely shocked by the out come of this series.

Me too, and to think, I was looking forward to Machado with his Platinum Glove and Silver Slugger bat...

Not since Brooks Robinson have I been this impressed with a young glove at Thunder Alley...at least with the O's, or perhaps in MLB period...? At least the AL.

oh shit wait, we had Pags, and Bam Bam Meulens, who shit all over Nettles Lightning Corner...! :lol: Actually I liked Pags; but disdained Bam Bam....go fetch Dino-
 
I liked Pags, and Brosius, good everyday players but for me Nettles overall is the best Yankees at 3rd.

As someone who's seen them all since Clete Boyer, Nettles is the best I've seen in a Yankee uniform.

Clete Boyer was a good 3b back in the Yankee day.

Recent Yankee history- Brosius was as good as it gets when it came to everyday play and rising to the occasion in the post season (WS)

Scott Brosius was A- OKAY !

Yes OKAY & I wish he would have hung around longer but he was no Nettles.

Tho' I never saw Red Rolfe play. I got an old Tobacco card from my Grandpa, who in fact knew all about Rolfe. Like Dickey, I'd of loved to of seen half of Murder's Row, and the other half of Joe DiMaggio, Gordon....Joe Ruth, Joe Gehrig, Joe Mantle....et al....! :smile:

But look at the bright side my friend, If you had seen all those guys play you'd be dead right now.
 
When stationed at Carlisle Barracks Pa in '77 to '79 there was a civilian Dr. on the Medaac Staff getting on in years but sharp as a tack. He used to eat in the mess hall with the troops, huge Pirates Fan and every time he saw me I'd be greeted with a Hey Sarge you damn Yankee. He was a medical student in New York and saw those murders row Yankee Teams of the late Twenties and saw one game of the '27 Series. After speaking of that series he'd say we got you back in '60. He was a pretty colorful dude and a great link to baseball in the 20's, 30's and 40's.

I too was branded at birth more by my GrandPa, who gave me visions of the Larrupin Lous, and Gallupin Galoots tour, which He had seen, in His day, and in my mind, such is the stuff great memories, nostaglia, History is made of...!

I still say Lou was the greatest underrated hitter in history....
(whatever that means...know what I mean? lol)

Don't know why, it just seems to me that he is hardly ever mentioned at first thought by the talking heads, "experts", ect... when it come to "the greatest hitters of all time" .. ever notice?
Maybe it's me. Oh well.

Gehrig was also absolutely, positively one the greatest WS hitters of all time.
He had it all (CAREER), the RBI, BA, SLG% - Triple Crown.

34 g, 119 ab, 35 rbi,

.361 ba .477 obp .731 slg%


34 games/119 ab....a pretty sizable sample and better than the Babe. (WS) lol

Look at his career reg season numbers:
8001 ab, 1995 rbi,
.340 ba, .447 obp .632 slg%


and the thing is, his name never comes up whenever "they" talk about all time great HITTERS.

Sure, it's always Ruth,Cobb, Williams, Gwynn, whoever...but Lou gets left out. Can't understand it.

Yep, no doubt Lou was as Great a player as ever will be....I too see how Lou too often gets left out of the mix, and its not fair at all....Gehrig was a GIANT amongst men, and had a better work ethic, than :Cobb, or Ruth...said isn't it.


and Yep- blgrides, I'm sure we can see eye to eye on other issues, I am open minded perhaps a bit more than I let on at times. Tom often opens my eyes, if you noticed. I never want to be a Grumpy Old Man, like Tote mentioned....

I have the heart of a 21 year old, and yet have no tolerance for ignorance on any level at any age. Perhaps that makes me Grumpy? I don't think so tho'....just my opinion.

And no, I have no axe to grind with you or any one else on these boards, well maybe now and then...:lol:
