I know football just started, and thank god baseball is winding down...... But do you realize that the first NBA preseason game is in only 25 days away. The Celtics are playing some Euro team. Damn I love hoops!!!!!

Love college football, just can't do NFL. Just switched to Directv last month and they gave me the NFL Ticket for free. I can tell you that I won't watch one game. Don't know why, just can't stand pro football.

25 days?! Wow, didn't realize it was coming up that soon... can't wait!

We're lucky that we had the Olympics this year. Usually, we have baseball jammed down our throats all summer... the most boring sport out there.

I was the same way until I found the Saints. I never had a team to really root for in Memphis. The Oilers fucked us over and moved to Nashville, and ever since the area I grew up in was all about college football. I'd imagine it'd be the same in Oregon. For my money, college football is still more exciting though. I've become a die hard Saints fan, but nothing beats NCAA Saturdays.

NBA > NFL for me, obviously.

I also like Tennis more than football. The NFL is extremely fun though.

how is DirectTV? I am thinking of switching

NBA > NCABB > NCAFB > NFL

This is in order of most entertaining to least for me.

You realize that when you're watching an NFL game, you're actually watching 90% commercials occasionally interspersed with football "action", right? MAYBE Football would be more interesting if, like Rugby Union, it was a lot more free-flowing. Or if you only watched the edited highlights. And they had to pass the ball every time.

Pretty soon now more Americans will care about the English Premier League than the NFL...

Playing Strip Dungeons and Dragons with HCPs wife in my mom's basement > NBA > Magic:The Gathering > NFL > NCAA Tourney > NCAA Football > MLB

Not interested at all in WNBA.

NBA basketball is all but unwatchable, and I only watch Portland's games because of my ultimate fandom to the team.

NFL > CFB > NHL > CBB > MLB > NBA

MLB>NBA>can't think of any other sports really worth watching at all, but NFL has less action per minute than golf, bowling, or billiards.

Love it! The DVR is amazing compared to Comcast. I can actually record 4X more stuff. My wife can't watch Blazer games, but just laid out better.

Speaking of laid out better........Oh never mind

EuroFootball > NBA = NFL > NCAAFB............................................> NCABB

TV rating say NFL football is far and away the most popular source of sports entertainment on TV.
Not surprisingly, NFL football gives fans the most time to eat, drink, and use the toilet between plays. :)

ive tried to get into NFL a few times, but there are just so many stops in the game - so hard to get excited when every 2 mins there's another team coming on, or some flag about something, or just more and more ads. the ux is terrible imo. nba is heading that way too

someone mentioned rugby union before, that is for the most part uninterupted - if there is a break its 1-2 ads max and that's fairly infrequent so you get close to continuous viewing

also whats the average broadcast length of a standard nfl or nba game, isnt the nba like 2hrs to play 48mins or something?

You need to try red zone channel if you have trouble following football

Regularly broadcasted NBA games are 2:30

Nationally telecasted TNT/ESPN games are about 3 hrs.

This will NEVER happen. Not even close.

And football isn't just about action. No other sport requires as much strategy and game planning.

I just switched back to Comcast from Directv. Do not feel sorry for the Blazers TV contract anymore since Directv does the same with the NFL. Just had the basic channels before and now have everything at the same price.

Directv does have a better DVR, but the capacity on the Comcast is bigger. Both are inferior to Tivo though.

My Comcast DVR could record 10 hrs of HD and 100 hrs SD

My Directv DVR records 100 hrs HD and 400 hrs SD

I think when it comes to HD, directv is in it's own class. Comcast certainly has a cool dvr, but cable has to compress before it sends it out, while satellite does not. The HD quality is far better.
