Food for thought from Seth Johnston:

The Blazers have never lost a game when Nicolas Batum attempts four free throws. That sentence would sound more important if it were “four or more free throws”, but that would be misleading since Batum has never taken more than four free throws in an NBA game. In fact, Batum has reached four attempts just seven times in his career.

It's tough to draw the foul from the coffin corner.

Wow. That stat is startling.

His numbers from FIBA:

Game 1 vs. ESP: 31 mins, 4-9 FG, 4-4 FT, 14 pts --> WIN
Game 2 vs. LIB: 22 mins, 3-7 FG. 1-1 FT, 7 pts --> WIN
Game 3 vs. CAN: 34 mins, 8-14 FG, 5-8 FT, 24 pts --> WIN
Game 4 vs. LTU: 28 mins, 3-11 FG, 5-7 FT 13 pts --> LOSS
Game 5 vs. NZL: 29 mins, 2-8 FG, 2-3 FT, 6 pts --> LOSS
Game 6 vs. TUR: 27 mins, 4-7 FG, 1-2 FT, 11 pts --> LOSS

Avg: 28mpg, 43% FG, 3-5.2, 72% FT, 12.5 ppg.

With POR for his career:

21mpg, 48% FG, 0.7-0.9, 81% FT, 7.1 ppg.

Maybe it is the system and his role?

No.... it's MAGIC! :devilwink:

Here's another stat about Nic.

When he plays 20 mins or more in a game, we're 40-17. (.705)

Whe he plays fewer than 20 mins in a game, we're 39-26. (.600)

I think it's mostly his mindset. Batum is much more willing to attack the hoop against foreign players such as Gasol. Against domestics, he seems more passive, going with finger rolls rather than packing it.

IDK what it is.

We rarely see aggressive drives like this into traffic here:

Just play defense on an island and rebound, son. Let the scoring come from Brandon

He needs to learn how to initiate contact when does his semi-fast break Clyde impersonation.
