Christopher Eubanks into main draw of BB&T Atlanta Open
Georgia Tech junior Christopher Eubanks has crashed the field of the BB&T Atlanta Open. Eubanks won two qualifying matches against ATP professionals over the weekend to earn a spot in the main 28-player singles draw of the tournament, which begins Monday at Atlantic Station.
Eubanks plays American Reilly Opelka Monday on the stadium court in a match scheduled to start 6 p.m. or later, depending on the finish of the matches in front of it.
Saturday, Eubanks, the reigning ACC player of the year, defeated Tommy Paul 6-2, 7-5, coming back from down 4-1 to win the second set. Paul was ranked No. 210 in the world at the time of the match. Sunday, Eubanks defeated Brazilian Thiago Monteiro, then ranked No. 104, 6-4, 7-5.
