Our previous dog was a Border Collie mix. She was probably as much fun as a dog can be - and since she basically ran from one side of the yard to the other for 14 hours straight every day - she was a wet 35lbs all the time - could not put any more weight.
Lived in Portland, wet yard, she calculated the optimal curve to be able to bark at the same car from both sides of the house given her max speed - and spent her days running that route. I have old Google Earth photos showing the path in the yard - every year I would fill it up and put patched grass on it, would do it again when we would only see the tip of the tail flashing out of it.
We love our old golden mix couch potato of a dog - and she is a wonderful family pet, but she never had the mischief that the old border collie mix had.
