95.5 just reported that Mike Bellotti is holding a press conference at 11:30 regarding "leadership in the department", and Canzano claims he has sources indicating that Bellotti is stepping down as Oregon AD.

University of Oregon Athletics is in a complete tailspin. What the hell is going on over there? Why don't they just appoint Phil Knight as AD, since that's who realistically is in charge anyway? Just do away with the entire pretense of a corporate/academic split between the two organizations. NCAA be damned! Hell, pay the players, too!

"This job is no fun!"

Maybe him, Embry and Masoli are going to open up a pawn shop?

lmao ok...

I seriously didnt see Bellotti as an AD for long. It just doesnt seem like him. Good luck to him in whatever he does. Oregon and their fans owe a lot to that guy.

OK, I guess I'm the only one brave enough to say it,

Canzano for U of O athletic director!!:cheers::clap::cheers:

Deal with criminals at U of O or work with Erin Andrews at ESPN? Seems like a no brainer to me! :devilwink:
I think he wants to coach again. He'll work for ESPN until a nice coaching job opens up.

It's official. Bellotti just said he's out effective 4/5. Says he's joining ESPN as an analyst.

Absolutely stunned. For all of it's bluster about wanting to be a "power" in the college football game with Nike's money, they sure have shit in turmoil over there in Eugene.

Wow! Must be an ego thing.

I dunno 'bout that. Maybe he just realized that he's really just a football guy, and that he's not well-rounded or corporate enough to be an AD.

Well, that was fun.....

Give the long suffering Ducks' fans a little taste of success - then kick them in the nads. Nicely done.

The bitter is strong in this one.

Yer goddamn right I'm bitter. The upcoming season was being set up nicely for an ACTUAL BCS Champioship run, not just blowing-smoke-up-ass wishing by Duck fans. Now? Lucky to make the Sun Bowl. Fuck that. There is no God.

At least now we might get some balance to that East Coast ESPN bias.

A little overreaction in here but it's been one crazy offseason for Oregon

Yes... Masoli being out may be a big deal... but maybe not. He was like the 4th string QB not long ago. I still have high hopes for the Ducks next year.

Bellotti did color commentary for some game last year didn't he? Can't remember who it was... but he did good. I was quite suprised how natural he seemed. Best of luck to him.

It'll be interesting to see how this impacts the head BB coach search. Bellotti said that UO has hired a search committee to help fill the coaching position, but are they going to fill that spot before getting a new AD? Or, is this going to delay their coaching search, preventing them from getting any of the hot names before they're hired elsewhere?

Man, Vulcan has powers we didn't even realize!

Possible replacement--Current Senior Associate AD (since 2002) Renee Mack Baumgartner, a Portland native who coached Oregon women's golf from '87-'93, then '96-2000. And, today is her 45th birthday. Maybe his resignation is Bellotti's gift to her.

I had a feeling he wasn't going to last when I saw his comments at halftime of the BSU game... saying that the team needed to run the ball more. Was he correct? Probably. But it was a thing a coach (or a commentator) would say on national television... not a GM.

Good luck to him and thanks for helping this semi-fan enjoy the Ducks more than before.

Hopefully Chip can make it worth the changes...

I agree with this. I don't think Bellotti was ever ready to leave coaching in the first place. He sort of got kicked upstairs with the arrival of Chip Kelly.
