While continuing her education as well (she graduated from USC in '87, and got her Masters in '89, and then a PhD in '96, for good measure). Smart cookie.

I heard that Bellotti is leaving because of a conflict with others in Eugene about not wanting to pay the new basketball coach more than Chip Kelly. Some around there want to make a really splashy hire and are willing to spend as much as it takes to get it done. Just rumor.
 
I heard it was something about his wife and the parking lot...

that or he might want to earn a fat check for doing very little. Dude has already put millions in the bank... that goes a long way in Eugene. Pulling an ESPN analysts check on top of that would allow him to enjoy some serious time off without completely raiding the nest egg
