Knicks' GM Donnie Walsh is expected to speak with point guard Stephon Marbury prior to the team's game against the Bobcats on Wednesday about either a trade, release, or buyout.

Walsh was surprised that Marbury didn't play in the team's season opener, especially after the guard appeared in a number of preseason games.

"I didn't realize he wouldn't play," Walsh said, adding, "I kind of expected it would be a big thing."

Walsh's quote seems to indicate that coach Mike D'Antoni was solely responsible for Marbury's banishment, especially since he didn't comment about D'Antoni's decision to effectively end Marbury's stay in New York.

Not a surprise. Didn't they have bad blood back in Phoenix?

How long before this fool gets fired? He has spent a lot of time attacking Marbury and Curry, while putting out a piss poor effort during the actual games.

He won't get fired. Get rid of EC and SM and then lets see what happens. I actually believe he can turn these guys around.

I think so too. I mean so far Nate Robinson, David Lee, and Quentin Richardson have been playing well due to the system. Jamal is just having a semi-rough start, but they should be fine. I want to see Curry, Randolph, and Marbury out of there though.

I honestly don't see the logic in benching him. He's still our best PG (yes, better than Duhon).

I'm also not in favor of giving him $22M for him to play for another team.
