Bryan Bennett was in a white practice jersey today, rather than the red non-contact jersey quarterbacks wear, a possible indication the Ducks are looking at ways to get him on the field

However: cornerback Troy Hill was wearing No. 13 today, rather than No. 2, the number he shared with Bennett. That''s presumably to allow for the possibility of both guys being on the field at the same time, which they couldn't do if wearing the same number.

So, it stands to reason the Ducks could be looking at ways to get Bennett on the field in the kicking game. A gunner on punt plays? A kickoff coverage guy? A return man? He's got the athleticism to fill those roles; on the other hand, it's a heck of a way to expose your backup quarterback to injury.

Ultimately, though, getting Bennett playing time -- keeping him involved with the team not just in practices but games as well -- could be a smart move given questions about his future plans after not winning the QB job. It will be interesting to see Saturday if, and how, he might be used.

So that means Mariota (sp) is gonna' get the majority of snaps then?

yessir. I imagine Bennett will get 25% to 30% maybe more the first three games though

Bennett has the speed, size and nasty to be a LB.... we are thin there after this year. Why not use his athletic nature there?

That said the Bleacher article about Mariota being a run first QB that will make our recievers suffer I take exception to. Mariota has great touch and feel with the ball and his recievers, where are they getting this stuff? I think the reason Bennett didn't get the nod is he's got a cannon of an arm and the balls are very hard to catch. I think the recievers more sealed Mariota's gig than anything else.

Anyone can write an article and post it on Bleacher report.
