IMO it's Michael Caine: Caine has had 132 acting roles in 51 years of brilliance on the stage and it seems every movie he has even a small part in turns out to be brilliant. I can't wait for the Sleuth remake.who do you guys think the best actor ever is?

I'm always partial to works by Robert DeNiro, Johnny Depp and John Cusack. I think each own the craft in unique and fascinating ways.

For me it's Al Pacino. They guy is just a phenomenal actor. He played key roles in the Godfather series and was brilliant. In Scarface he was able to change his accent as well as perform as well as he did in that. Al Pacino has done alot of movies ranging back from the 70's to today. Great actor.

John Wayne. He's just so damned cool with his cowboy hat.

This is too hard to pick one.but Denzel Washington IMO.

bruce willis is my favorite actor............ but I don't really know who the best actor is ever..........

I always liked Al Pacino, 1st movie of his I saw was Scarface and loved it. Denzel.. I like Samuel L Jackson coz of Coach Carter.

I don't know much about film history...I don't go back much further than the 80's.Al Pacino, Robert Duvall, Denzel Washington, Dennis Hopper, Johnny Depp, Mark Wahlberg....are my favorites and damn good actors.

Clive Owen, Edward Norton, Damon, Leonardo, Denzel, Tim Robbins, Morgan FreemanUnderrated : Ryan Phillippe, Terrence Howard

I think at his age, Leonardo DiCaparo is going to be the greatest ever...people say has hasnt done enough movies. But the movies he has done in the past 10 yrs have been incredible and usually 3+ star movies....alotve times 4 star movies.

my favorites are Denzel Washington, Bruce Willis and Morgan Freeman but as far as best actors goes I think you really have to classify it by movie genre I.e. comedy (Jim Carrey) etc...

Like take more diverse roles to achieve greatest ever. But he's done plenty of films, I don't understand why someone would say he hasn't. I mean he was a kid actor and had great performances in Basketball Diaries, What's Eating Gilbert Grape and The Quick and the Dead. For the record, I did not like Titanic or Romeo + Juliet. Even though Legizamo owned in R+J.

God, how does Denzel come up in every one of these threads.I like Don Cheadle a lot out of the recent actors. Ed Norton always seems to pick good movies, as does Russell Crowe.

Jack Nicholson should get more recognition in this thread...the guy is crazy good.

Great Actor. Some memorable performances...as the Joker in "Batman"the general in "A Few Good Men"

One Flew Over the Cookoo's Nest...and...The Shining....amazing in both.

1. Robert DeNiro - Raging Bull2. Al Pacino - Godfather3. Marlon Brando - Streetcar Named Desire4. Jack Nicholson - The Departed5. Robert Duvall - Apocalypse Now6. Joe Pesci - Goodfellas7. Morgan Freeman - Shawshank Redemption8. Denzel Washington - Training Day9. Clint Eastwood - Million Dollar Baby10. Robin Williams - Good Will Hunting11. Leo DiCaprio - The AviatorPretty inexact list, just throwing them out.

I have just gotten myself immersed in film, and the only classic actors I am not completely ignorant about are Pacino and De Niro. Anyone who says Denzel Washington needs to immerse themselves in these guys.I know jack about film, but any early picture Pacino and De Niro did puts whatever Washington has done to shame.I swear, when Kate tells Michael in The Godfather Part II that the baby was killed due to abortion, and you see Pacino's face get downright vicious in a shockingly subtle way... *shudders*That makes my hair stand on end.

I've been watching OLD movies lately. I'm always one to look at the people that revolutionize or originate a form as the best.Clark Gable, Cary Grant, even Clint Eastwood. I guess my favorite actor is Sean Connery.

As of the last ten years, the two actors that I have enjoyed the most, and the ones that I think are the best are Leonardo Dicaprio and Denzel Washington. DiCaprio does a good job in every movie that he is in along with Denzel. Denzel is the perfect fit for any good mystery murder film...

Remember Devil in a Blue Dress? I think he was mad that Don Cheadle upstaged him.

This reminds me of that thread where people where like MAN I LOVE BEN STILLER AND WILL FARRELL THEY ARE THE FUNNIEST. If the posters on this site were a little older, they might have a little bit better perspective.

Sean Connery. The sexy sexy accent, the sexy sexy women in teh bond films he poked, oh man, The Rock. Lol

Besides The Good Shepherd, shame.Same goes for Pacino who has basically become a parody of himself imo.

Pacino, wheras he used to convey emotion through subtlety, now just yells and yells.
