I just purchased one of those Groupons for BBQ @ Slaptown Ribs on NW Vaughn.

http://www.slabtownribsandbbq.com/

I'm hoping the food is good. (BTW, you can sit in the bar in Acapulco's Gold next door, enjoy margi's, and order from the Slabtown menu..)

Has anyone been there? If so, does it rate up there with some of the better BBQ joints in Portland?

Thanks!

PS: Following dinner, we're gonna check out that movie, "Buck", at the Cinema 21 in NW. It's a quasi-documentary produced by Robert Redford and covers the dude that the Horse Whisperer was filmed about. Received rather good reviews.

Podnah's was really good. I went back to Portland a couple of years ago and we stopped by there. It was pretty close to some of the places down here. Make sure you get the Frito Pie.

Newly dating?

Never use a coupon when you are newly dating someone. It makes you look like a cheapskate and they won't feel obligated to put out.

Russell St. BBQ

They've got my vote. Their brisket is fucking awesome.

Podnah's actually made it on one of the Travel Channel shows for some of the best BBQ in the country. I haven't been there yet but have been wanting to go for a long time now.

Yam Yam's!

Sadly the owner won't be out of prison for 10-15yrs.

haha, that was his cover for being a major coke dealer.

I've been to Goldie's. It is pretty good as well, but not in the same league as Podnah's...IMO

I've been wanting to try Goldies. If Bob say's its good, then I will have to go for it!

GOLDIES ... GOLDIES ... GOLLLLLLLDIES! that place is delicious and the owners (Charles and Aaron) are two of the nicest guys you will ever meet. living down here in texas for a little over a year and i've tried some good stuff but nothing comes close to their bbq.

I lived on 16th between Skidmore and Prescott when I was a wee tyke. 4 burglaries in 2 years......LOL we moved

Nothing comes close in Texas? LOL what part of Texas do you live in?

See! I told y'all! Although I'm shocked that in Texas nothing comes close???

Agree though about Charles and Aaron. They are the kind of people you hope to have tons of success.

Texas has amazing BBQ places. BigBailes has probably been drinking or something

i live on the border but have tried some places in san antonio and austin. the only place that is close is the iron works in austin, but i have yet to try the salt lick which is widely regarded as the best in texas. i guess in the end i'm just partial to the bibbens boys.

i'll have to try smitty's next time i'm driving up to austin. living in laredo we get a weird mixture of bbq and mexican combos at the local joints. if you're down here and looking for a chain Rudy's is tough to beat, think busters but better.

There is a Rudy's country store and BBQ here in north Houston that I have been to. Is that the same thing? It was definately better than Busters, but not nearly as good as some others

I certainly not a bbq aficionado, but I visited Famous Dave's in Tualatin....and it certainly tasted fine to me. Had the St. Louis ribs and brisket combo. The mac & cheese and cornbread was excellent, as well.

What about Snoop Dog's Uncles place on Macadm Blvd, anyone been there?
