I've just never heard an American say "ta".

Ah.... My Boss (Who's English) uses it quite a bit.

Edit: (And heard it several times when I've been over there)

I like it.

Seven, The Departed, Heat, Die Hard, and L.A. Confidential are my favorites mentioned so far.

But nobody has mentioned the Lethal Weapon movies??? I'm getting too old for this shit.

Heat
L.A. confidential
seven
Donnie brasco
Departed
Training day
Man on fire...not cop, bodyguard

Bad Lieutenant - Port of Call: New Orleans

Trust me it is really good.

Are you serious? It has Nic Cage...how can it be good?

Yes, it is very good. One of 2009's best in my opinion. I find to be a much better film than Avatar, which everyone is falling in love with.

I usually never watch movies with Cage in them, but now I want to see Bad Liutenant

Colors

Starring Sean Penn and Robert Duvall. A serious film but shows how to treat the people in LA differently than just out of the police academy. One of my favorites all time.
