National NBA analysts have offered a range of preseason predictions for the Blazers and most are forecasting a playoff appearance for the fourth consecutive season. None are predicting a championship run.

But inside the Blazers' locker room, there are loftier ambitions.

Matthews, Aldridge and Camby each said Friday that they felt the Blazers could wind up being the best team in the Western Conference.

"First," Aldridge said, when asked where the Blazers would finish in the West. "I think that's our goal. We can't come in shortchanging ourselves. We feel like we've worked hard and we have the pieces to be good this year. So we feel like we have an opportunity."

Added Crawford: "I think we're going to be scary. We have a perfect mix of veterans and young guys and guys in their prime. It's going to be a fun season, I'm going to promise you that."

I don't get everyone righting us off as a one and done playoff team, We would have taken Dallas to 7 if Wallace hadn't gotten injured that last game ,who in the west can you hands down say we would lose to in a best of 7? Dallas is losing a bunch of players that took them there and without Chandler I'm not afraid of that team at all, Lakers without Odom just dont' have the length, Spurs are old and they have no one who can handle Aldridge, Denver I just don't believe in that team, we match up well vs Memphis. The only team I think would take us out in the first round in OKC.
I'm not gonna guess who will make the second round or further tell we are farther into a season but I like our chances this year.

In previous seasons, they've spoke of just making the playoffs, winning 50 games, Getting HCA or winning a playoff series. It's good to hear they've raised their ambitions this year. Not every team says they believe they'll finish first. And on that note, I think 4th WOULD be awesome. Better than the last two years.

You can't predict because injuries always slow down a couple of the best teams.

The top 6 teams look comparable.

Healthy Lakers, Healthy Mavs, Clippers, Thunder, Blazers, Grizzlies.

Only a few games separate them according to Hollinger.
