Best place to live in the USA?

Best place I've lived in is San Francisco. I currently live in Irvine (the OC) and it's hard to beat the weather here. I was considering moving to Portland a few years ago, because the 3 summer months out there is amazing. I don't care so much for it in the winter though despite being an avid snowboarder. I don't like living in cold weather for more than a month and I don't like all the rain Portland gets.

When I was in my early 20's the best place to be was LA though. Best looking women, great clubs, and restaurants. If you enjoy an active nightlife nothing compares.

I think California will be fine. The state is always in dire financial straits but it always comes out of it.

I think the main island. The largest mountain/volcano is high enough that it has snow and skiing.

This is true, but not all year round.

At the top of Haleakela on Maui, the temperature is upper 30s. The Big Island has taller volcanoes.

I remember reading that Oregon, California and Hawaii are the three states where this is true.

Seems like Alaska should be a possibility too. If you are tough.

You can ski in Alaska?

Please support that, because I'm skeptical.

Well, you remember Ted Stevens' cabin, the one that got him and some prosecutors in trouble? If I remember correctly it is in Girdwood, which is a ski resort area.

Well, who'd have thunk it.

I guess if beach volleyball made it to California, anything's possible.

Yep. I understand there are coals in Newcastle, also, although I've never been there.
