Thought we should make a thread to express our prayers and best wishes to her and her family, as well as all the others involved in this, including the federal judge and child that have passed away.

It may bring some good karma (whether you believe in that stuff or not). :)

The other thread is a bit side tracked (which I have been a part of) and more for information anyway.

God Bless you guys. The country is praying for you/wishing you the best. Hang in there. My prayers are with you and your family and friends.

I don't believe in god or prayer, but I sure hope all the injured pull through.

Good thoughts for good people.

As always, Karma will prevail in the end.

I'm glad she seems to have pulled through...I feel worse for the families of the 5 who died, including the 9-y/o.

Odd that someone who doesn't believe in mythical beings believes in mythical forces delivered by mythical beings.

I was actually shocked and my heart sunk when I heard about this. What a senseless travesty. I hope the Congresswoman has a full recovery and that the families who have tragically lost a loved one can somehow find solace in their grief.

Best wishes (not a believer) to Congresswoman Giffords and all the others injured.

Condolences to all the families, especially of the 9 year old, granddaughter of former MLB player Dallas Green, born on 9/11/01. She was featured in a book called Faces of Hope, profiling one child from each state born on that day.

A big thank you to the woman and two men who finally wrestled the murderer down. Another thank you to Daniel Hernandez, the 20 year old staffer who held Giffords up so she could not choke on her blood, and applied pressure to the wound, saving her life. Sadly, this hero (still) is not allowed to join the military.

Concur, well done.
Sadly, this hero (still) is not allowed to join the military.
Why is that?

Why is that?

Because "don't ask don't tell" is not yet actually repealed. Daniel Hernandez is a gay man who served on the Tucson Commission on GLBT Issues. He may be brave, self-sacrificing, cool under fire, beyond competent, a natural leader, but he is still not considered good enough for the military. And both his US Senators agree he is not good enough.
