Big News: Kawhi, AD, and others on the move?

Welcome to our community

Here are the numbers:

Salary cap: 112

Tax Line: 140

Hard Cap: 145

Dame: 40M
Kawhi: 40M

Current Blazer salary: 131
Assume no Collins and Powell: 115

In order to sign Kawhi outright we need to move about 45M in salary. CJ + Jones + Ant gets us there. Or CJ + Jones + RoCo or Nurk. But then you're looking at filling out a roster around:

Dame/Kawhi/RoCo and Nurk hopefully/Nas? You have 10M in MLE and the rest will be vet mins. Good luck with that.

If you trade to hardcap yourself with CJ and Jones (lets just assume best case scenario):

Dame 40
Kawhi 40
Powell 20 (Let's assume)
Roco 13
Nurk 12
Ant 4
Nas 2
Elleby 2

That is 133 for 8 spots. Need to fill at least 6 more with vet mins. Assume an average of 2 million per vet min and that gets us just at the tax line of 145. I suppose it's physically possible, but what is the likeliness of that? That is a pretty crazy starting 5 though:

Dame
Powell
Kawhi
RoCo
Nurk

All of this is a pipe dream though, because Kawhi would have to demand Portland and Portland only for us to even have a chance at this.
Hard cap will be around $143M and you're forgetting $2.8M in dead money from Nicholson.

Honestly, I wouldn't mind letting Powell walk to make it work and using the MLE on Batum and the BAE on Thies. Then try to get a cheap big for a pick to stay below the hard cap (ex. a first for Brandon Clarke)

Lillard (36) / Simons (12)
Kawhi (36) / Simons (12)
Little (24) / Batum (24)
Covington (30) / Clarke (18)
Nurkic (30) / Thies (18)

I like it.

Yup the number one reason I want to be that wealthy is to have access to way more top-shelf...well it starts with a P.

I mean this gal looks like she can handle herself around a Kantian Pure Reason vs the Hegelian Dialectic as a basis for a world view, type discussion. Don't get her started on Hume though and whatever you do, don't bring that weak sauce Philosophy 101 interpretation that Nietsche said give into your base desires because nothing matters. A Sophomoric understanding of Nihilism isn't going to fly with this bad bitch.

Yep, sure wish I had some top-shelf Philosophical conversations on tap.

Deep man, deep.

You know what I see there? Someone has to clean that damn pool. I guess if you're rich enough to own that house, you're rich enough for that to not be your problem.

Pool guys probably live in a small guest house off picture.

Im trying to find a team with cap space to absorb CJ and maybe get a back up PG or Center back. Then just sign Leonard outright.

Dame/backup PG/Simons
Powell/Simons
Leonard/Little/Roco
Roco/Melo/Little
Nurk/Kanter/Filler

Obviously we may not be able to keep some guys I have in there, but thats damn good and if we lose a Little or Simons we fill the gaps. Prefer to lose Melo/Kanter and fill in the gaps, but those guys wont cut it.[/QUOTE

No, pool guy lives with his 3 other roommates in a dump on the far side of town.

Today's Twittersphere/Punditverse has Celtic fans losing their minds because it's rumored Boston is considering moving Jaylen Brown.

BJ, so you really think we have a shot at Kawai? Is because of Chancey or Lillard or both? It cant because of how quite a place Portland is so he can be non conspicuous.
Quite people generally like to be in larger crowds so they can be insulated, coming to Portland would be like joining the Beavercreek Community Church where everyone has to hug and be helpful.

I mean, it's an extreme longshot but you gotta try. Hopefully he really likes playing under Billups and would love to pair up with Dame in a smaller city.

Neil has to try for a superstar, no matter how unlikely.
