I'm sorry for your struggle, but we've posted in the same places for enough time that I can see your swings. There seemed to be a familiar pattern popping up. I apologize if my comment embarrassed you; it wasn't intentional. You've been so upfront about it, I didn't think it was a big deal. If I was mistaken, then I was wrong to bring it up and I apologize.

I don't have a name for my disorder but I read about half of the article until a part where you tell Emily you are going through a tough time and she said she couldn't tell.

The thing that popped instantly into my head was that she just didn't care to notice.

Everybody I know is nuts, no reason to feel special. I think when one pole (one polar?) is an asshole is the time to worry.

I stopped posting on the general board last year and have tried to refrain from doing so. I think I accidentally posted in a thread that should have been or even was marked OT but it was an accident.

The reason was that as a fan I took the games way too seriously. The whole board gets bipolar. My girlfriend says I don't talk after we lose a game, and I don't. It might be because I think our coach is bi polar, one is Forrest Gump and the other is Corky from Life Goes On.

Edit...I don't know jack shit about bipolar disorder and I have been describing it as if it were some sort of split personality when it is probably about mood swings and depression and whatnot. I just made it fit my own description, I am not a doctor and I don't play one on TV and I haven't even ever slept at a holiday inn.

I'm dealing with someone right now who is severely bi-polar. Its literally crazy the things that happen.

I accept.

Why do you have Webster as your avatar KS? Its sorta creepy

Sorry to hear about your struggles, Eric. It makes your perfomance on Bones all the more impressive. Is this something you've always had to deal with? Were you struggling with bipolar disorder when I met you at the PaperMill Theatre a few years ago?

Thanks. I think one is probably bipolar from birth but it gets triggered by a major event. In this case, my even was moving to LA and getting the TV show. I've read about other bipolar people and they all say similar things. This big move set me off and once I was off, I was off. But in retrospect, yea, I had bipolar episodes before L.A. When you met me at Paper Mill, however, I was doing pretty well.

I read that Eric. I'm very sorry that you have to go through that. I hope it becomes manageable and never becomes something that holds you back from your goals. You are too talented for that.

Really sucks man. Glad you are getting better though.

I do have a question for you if you don't mind.. Does it bother you when people see someone that randomly has mood swings and they just blatantly say "oh he/she is bipolar". There is this girl at my college, and last night everyone kept saying how she was bipolar, but I was quick to say afterwards "ok she isn't really bipolar to be fair" and I kept saying it because of this thread, because I don't know if its one of those things that offend people that are bipolar. So would it bother you if someone on this board said "oh just ignore HCP he's by bipolar"?

Sucks that someone made your personal problem part of their message board discussion. But hey, at least you got a fake apology. Saying "sorry IF" is not the same as "sorry i did (action)" It's no wonder that is it came from one half of the the Magical Egotastical Blazer Board Jackasses. (What are is his excuse for being a jackass? His one million Degrees?)

Umm I don't know maxiep at all as a person, but I'm pretty sure that was a sincere honest apology.

Bein's you're from L.O., you should consider removing the 't' from your avatar. :D

I read your post again and want to be clear:

Those swings have nothing to do with my bipolar disorder. That is just me having fun posting on a message board. Totally different than real mania, hypomania, and suicidal depression. All three of which I've been managing with medication and therapy for a few years now. You haven't "seen my swings."

Well, it's hard to explain the illness to people who don't have it. It's not everyday mood swings. It's more than that. It is a very painful HELL. Even the highs and the manias are tougeh because they're imposed on you. They're distortions of reality. Real flying up and down is just awful. Painful, painful, painful. It's not like "oh, I feel badly today" or "I'm upset the Blazers lost." The feelings are more akin to what you would feel if the worst tragedy befell you.

For instance, I once scratched my car pulling out of a parking lot. It was a very small scratch. I didn't just "overreact." I experienced the pain that was akin to that of someone whose family all died in a plane crash. It was a horrible, I want to kill myself pain. All because of a little scratch. That scratch is still there and it's so ridiculously small. But it was the illness that sent me out of proportion.

Man, the suicidal feelings were so awful. Over and over and over. Thankfully, that is all in the past now.

So to answer your question, I don't think it should be tossed around lightly. But calling someone "bipolar" in a sports forum I guess is the same thing as calling a player a "cancer." Unless the person is bipolar. Just like it would be in bad taste to call a player with cancer a "cancer."

I disagree...at times bi polar and cancer are perfect terms to desribe fans or players...its obvious nobody is trying to insult anyone who actually have those two things

Its not like calling something "gay'...that I can understand since that is insulting somebody when being gay isnt a bad thing....I think we can all agree that having cancer or being bipolar sucks, therefore not insensitive

That's what I'm saying. It's fine to "call out" someone as bipolar or a cancer unless the person actually is bipolar or has cancer. Then, it's just mean.

Eric, did you take any SSRI/MAOI's, if so, how did you respond to them?
