Blazer "dealing with rejection" in GM search

Apparently Woj hasn't spoken to MB. There are amazing candidates lining up this job

I don't think were going to get a guy with GM experience. Its going to be a guy eager to get the title.

I don't blame them.

In Portland they wont have the power they have with their current teams -- You're a puppet for Burt and Paul.

Btw...

Will a new GM be able to bring in his own talent scouts?

This is a team that desperately needs a new scouting team -- almost as bad as they need a new medical staff.

Cho was a #2 guy..... look how they treated him.

I think PA learned his lesson on this one.

Cho had it right; this team needs to rebuild and aren't close to being a title contending team.

The Wallace for cap space and a draft pick is a sign of that IMO.

Now MB is talking about making Chad the full-time GM. That would be a horrible move.

But it would stick with the theme.... why mess with the theme? :devilwink:

In trying for current GMs, Allen is shooting for the Moon. When you have a secure job, why leave unless he doubles your pay. When this fails, he'll go to Plan B, the traditional method, hiring an assistant GM.

Traditionally, owners don't hire GMs currently employed because 1) why leave security, 2) it's not polite on the GM's part to quit and bring secrets with you, and 3) it's not polite on the owner's part to steal from his peers.

The historical list of such GM thefts is pretty short.

Per Quick...
Blazers' search for GM accelerated as owner Paul Allen interviews candidate face-to-face last week, according to team president Larry Miller

Miller says at least 3 candidates will be brought in front of Allen before making a decision.

Miller said the candidate interviewed by Allen was a former GM with a long history in the NBA.

Donnie Walsh on Monday said he has NOT interviewed with Allen: "I have had no contact with the Blazers and certainly haven't interviewed.''

Miller confirms that some teams have denied Blazers permission to speak with their employees

It's coming from Larry Miller so take it with a grain of salt.

Blazers can save face with this search by offering who they covet the most for the coaching position, the general manager position as well.

Rick Carlise for instance.

they could use some new fans too. Some of the current one's have repeated their wild stab in the dark guesses so often they've convinced themselves it's the truth.

Who wouldn't want to work on eggshells around Paul Allen and Bert Kolde?

One day you're sitting courtside and your team goes from 21 wins to 54 wins, the next you're banished to the second level.

Paul Allen is incompetent.

If your blindly a homer of anything Blazer related including the inept former coach, doesn't it make sense to blindly support the incomptent owner?

That's a failure in logic. Owner>>>>coach

It's "you're", fwiw.

Ownership team puts the management team in place, that decides on the coach and the players that fill out the roster.

The logic is perfectly valid.

That is the worst excuse for bad spelling I've ever heard, Mister.

Yes. Thanks for proving my point.

Ownership>>>coach. That's what I posted.

LOL. Piece of work!

Guess who put that coach in place, bud. If you blindly are a homer of the coach, why aren't you blindly in favor of the Seattle owner who put that coach in place?

I'm not blindly a homer of the coach. I said it was time for him to leave when he got fired. Clearly his time here was over, and it was time to move on. I also think it's time for the owner to sell the team, or at least get rid of his lackeys.

Are you going to ignore I said it was time for Nate to go? Just as I think it's time for Allen to go?

I'm not quite sure what your complaint with me is at this point.

Yes.

The Blazer are turned down before they even get that chance.

Larry Miller & Co. aren't close like they claim -- more like scrambling.

Being without a real GM for an entire year is unacceptable.

You supported Nate until the bitter end.

I really think that's the best course of action. I wish Paul would sell the team and the new owner would completely clean house.

New management.

New training staff.

New coaching staff.

Everything. Fire them all. New marketing staff. Call it "the great purge of 2012".
