I'll be in town for this next Wednesday. A few of us are already making plans to hook-up for a beer before this event. No firm details on that as of yet. I'll update as necessary

Anyway, if you're interested in attending this event, Here's The Link:

Thank you for your support of the first "Rise With Us" Sport and Entertainment Career Fair hosted by the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday January 28. Our keynote speaker, former NBA Executive and best selling author Jon Spoelstra, will be giving his opening address at 5:30. Please arrive no later than 5:15 to ensure that we are able to start on time. The event will take place in the Georgia Pacific Room of the Memorial Coliseum. We will have signs posted directing you to the event. Please be sure to have your Career Fair entry pass and your game ticket when you arrive. If you no longer have or did not receive a Career Fair entry pass, print off a copy of this confirmation email.

We have 12 companies in the sport and entertainment industry who will be hosting booths at the event. Some companies have more current openings than others. We are excited to be joined by:

The Portland Trail Blazers
The Salem Keizer Volcanoes
Oregon Sports Authority
Foot Locker
The Portland Beavers and Portland Timbers
The Warsaw Center for Sports Marketing at the University of Oregon
Sports Management World Wide
AEG and the Rose Quarter
The Seattle Storm
The Tacoma Rainiers
Ovations
The Portland Center for the Performing Arts

Keep in mind that there is no guarantee that each of these companies will have a copy of your resume when you arrive, so please bring multiple copies of your resume. I also recommend business casual to business attire at this event. While we do not have a formal area to host interviews with each vendor, this is an ideal chance to meet representatives from great sport and entertainment companies in the Pacific Northwest face to face. Thanks again for your support and I'm looking forward to seeing you Wednesday!

I wish you well. Maybe a gig in the marketing department at the Blazers. Couldn't get much better could it?

Go Blazers (with ABM)

Of course if you come back to PDX you are going to have to change your "handle" on this forum.

Hope you get a job in the ticket department, then you can hook us up!

That would be great! Then perhaps we could get the Blazers to sponsor the predictions game as well as Adidas and winners would get tickets to a Blazer game (as happened for a while before our contact inside the Blazers left for Adidas).

Go ABM (soon to be PBM!)

Gramps...

I would like to go. I just sent you a PM. Thanks for the info.

Sounds like my type of career fair. What time and what place?

I have yet to hear back from some of my other buddies, but I'm thinking the lounge in the Crowne Plaza (formerly Holiday Inn) on 2nd & Weidler at, say, 3 PM on Wednesday the 28th?

I'm sure I'll be getting all those confirmations soon. I say, the more the merrier!

Oh, and lest anyone forget, I'm the Self-Proclaimed Activities Coordinator! :D

So I have completed my application online, and I got the email confirming I have applied for the Career Fair. I am a season ticket holder: I assume I do not need to complete Step 2 because I already have a ticket.
"complete the form, and mail/fax the completed form back to the team to complete your payment. You will not be considered "registered" unless you have completed both Step 1 and Step 2."
I just want to make sure I can show up with my confirmation email and my season ticket, and be considered "registered".

You're good to go!

We went there for a bash one year. Nice place but it is small. I will be at the Crown Plaza around three for drinks for sure.

haha, one of my buddies was telling me that his girl's friend is the sister of someone at the blazers...i guess it was tony luftman....apparantly there are a lot of blazers groupies for him. haha

You mean, Tony "Tell 'em what they've won, Michael!" Luftman?!

That HAS to be the most tired and lamest exhange in the history of sports broadcasting!

yeah....he asked me what i thought of him...i said it was entertaining.......

i kind of like that schtick to be honest. haha

Hook up for a beer *before* the career fair? =)

Might I suggest... afterwards to increase your job prospects. ;)

Now... I work 6 AM to 2 PM... so I can have a beer at 3 after work. Sweet! The drawback is I may fall asleep during OT games. =(

Seriously though... best of luck ABM.

Amen - worst routine ever. If they're going to do it during every halftime show, at least TRY to come up with a new reply now and then instead of "a road game" or "a home game" almost every single time!!!

Tony's tolerable but I just wanna know who Mikey slept with to get the job.

hmmm... i'll be at school on wednesday (university of oregon), but I would LOVE to get a summer internship with the team. I sent in the application online, but I haven't heard anything back. oh well.

Have you ever heard of a 45-minute Career Fair, though?

Seemingly, That's what this is going to amount to.

Spoelstra speaking @ 5:30

Game @ 7

You do the math.

Oh, and you had to purchase a ticket to the game to get into the career fair. Part of me wonders if this was just a way to sell tickets to an otherwise sales-challenged Bobcats game?

/rant

Go Blazers! :D

Man if that is a marketing ploy... it sure is a good one. =)

This picture must be a fake. I was soaked through the bone sprinting through that parking lot that afternoon...I mean, "torrential downpour"-type stuff. Seriously...I've been in Okinawan typhoons that don't rain that hard.

And there's you and KP chillin' in the sun.

/jealousy

Well, I finally made it to Portland. Going through Denver is the pits.

Anyhoo, looking forwards to seeing/meeting any of you who are planning to go to the fair.

See ya then.....................

If anyone is going to be meeting us at the Crowne Plaza I have two tickets for free in section 206. It will be ok to buy me a beer or something for the tickets since I am unemployed. We will be meeting at 3pm and then heading to the career fair around 5. I do want to let you know my friend that has those tickets won't be here until around 6. That is when I will have the tickets for you.

Oh, sure, you get your drink then your buddy's a no show! Oldest scam there is! :)

To think I almost left the service... now I'm really wishing I did, even if it's just entry level.
