Still, the bidding war among Boston, Philadelphia and Los Angeles Lakers never materialized. The Los Angeles Clippers, Denver, Phoenix, Portland, Toronto and Washington are among teams who've talked with San Antonio, league sources said.

As examples, no Blazers' package includes Damian Lillard or CJ McCollum, league sources said. For a player who teams fear could be a one-year rental, many offers are modified.

How would a package even look without CJ, from a money perspective? We’d have to match salaries.

Harkless, Aminu, and Collins? That’d leave us pretty thin at forward. I guess we could sign someone like Beasley or our old friend Vonleh. I’d do it of course, I’m just curious.

I wonder if the TPE to take a contract they don’t want (Green) would be on the table as well.

I don’t, I just kno from this article that Neil hasn’t offered CJ... which is a joke

That doesn’t necessarily mean he wouldn’t. He’s bidding against the other teams offers, they’re probably not that great either. Let’s remember at the time of the Paul George trade everyone thought Indiana got ripped off.

If I am SA and I like what I see in Lonnie Walker, (and most do) I stay with Green for now and groom Walker. Why add a large contract (CJ) at the same position? They have other needs than SG

Yeah that’s why I wouldn’t assume that they’d be interested in CJ. I’m pretty sure Collins would be more attractive. Harkless and Aminu’s defensive abilities probably appeal to Pop as well. I don’t know how we’d go about replacing them, but I’d do it.

Great, now the part of my brain (about 90%) that insists on coming up with stupid trades when I should be doing work has been re-activated again. Thanks a lot.

Blazers should offer this as a starting point (along with about 10 picks, every other year until the apocalypse). Spurs on the rebuild would probably be glad to offload salary and that would be Patty, Danny Green (both expiring soon anyway) or Pau. And Aminu is a Spurs-type player on a Spurs-type salary.

San Antonio was evidently interested in Simons. Simons and Collins is a good package of young players.

Yep going young makes more sense for them if they lose Kawhi.
Young players/draft picks and a short contract for filler purposes.

It would suck losing Collins and Simons for a possible rental, but I’ve maintained that Kawhi could be talked into staying in Portland, and will probably end up loving it once he experiences it.

Let me get this straight. We are talking about a one year rental on a guy who sat out an entire season with a questionable injury, and has threatened to sit out next season if not traded to the team he wants.

Unless SA is willing to take Meyers and Turner....they can keep their tumor. Giving value makes no sense.

Where is this from? The draft?

I think his agent/uncle are more the issue than Kawhi himself. I'd rather take the risk.

There is no way to do that without a third team, right? We can't combine with the trade exception and don't really have an appealing contract to match. ET would obviously be our choice, but can't see SA wanting that.

Aren't the Blazers always mentioned in certain trade rumors? What was it that people used to say? not swayed?

Harkless?

If we did gut our forwards, the FA pool is pretty barren.

Alan Williams
Trevor Booker
Vonleh
Michael Beasley
David West
Quincy Acy

Wed probably be better off looking to Europe to fill the hole. Anthony Randolph for example.
