Blazers make final cuts - waive Pressey and Omari Johnson

Michael Jordan didn't start playing until his senior year of high school.

#MAGS

Yeah except for the Junior year where he played varsity; or the sophmore year he played JV, or when he played on the freshman team as a freshman. Other than those four years he never played.

Of the guys that barely made the cut I'm most intrigued by Cliff Alexander.

He's a bit of a physical oddity: 6'8" with a 9'2" reach

He has a long way to go. But his rebounding and defense has a lot of potential.

Did I miss something? Admittedly, I didn't read the article that was linked, but I don't think Cliff necessarily "barely" made the cut....

Sounds like he's impressed a lot of folks in a short time..

I dig what the Blazers are doing with Montero and Alexander. It's like drafting a shortstop in the 37th round and trying to turn him into a pitcher. Probably won't work, but if it does you are playing with house money.

I agree with this on some level, though Cliff Alexander doesn't quite fit this mold. He's more like the guy that killed it through everything, went to Cape Cod League and was a bit of a head case and at times struggled with the wood bat and his position tanked, and the Blazers identified the issues and are going to try to fix them.

Alexander isn't a head case at all though.

Headcase describes a large crowd of people. Probably not the best use with Alexander, but he's made a few questionable decisions, in the eyes of coaches, scouts, etc. Guys get labeled that all the time, and it's probably not the best descriptor. But there's some smoke to it, in the eyes of some, anyway.

I love that we have him on our roster. Could be big. When Stotts said not to worry about him, I could be reading into it, but I think he feels like they got a steal in signing him as a free agent.

To me, headcase definitely implies mental instability or at least an attitude problem. From what I've heard, everyone who coached Alexander except for Bill Self said he had an amazing attitude and work-ethic.

I think the cuts was correct at this time. But still keep looking to try to get better.

The reactions from this season will prove that 3/4 of you geeks are official head cases!

Basketball will benefit from new officials and needs a new batch of Dennis Rodmans

I couldn't see the images you posted but I'm going to like any response after the wife jokes around here..loyal husband of 27 years myself...#FAMS

All these guys listed even HS to nba players have more experience than Montero. He played one year of HS and one year of CC basketball. Rodman was a 3 time all American at the NAIA level.

But that was it. He never played organized ball before that. He was a natural.

Rodman got cut in HS and was only 5'6" as a freshman in HS, he didn't have his growth spurt till after HS. He also didn't make the football team.

Yeah, that was my point. He didn't really start playing until after high school because of the growth spurt.

Agree. Can't see anything but three empty boxes.

I'd bet 95% of the wife jokes have to do with HCP's wife. I lost my mother young and grew tired of mom jokes at about the same time. I know it's a running theme going on for years around here, but unless I come to find out that HCP's wife is a veritable bitch, I will refrain from disrespecting both her and HCP, even if he's not offended. It's just not something I find becoming. Now, my best friend's wife is a total cunty bitch, so any and all jokes that put her chastity and faithfulness into question are worth double points.

The HCP's wife is considered a saint around these parts. The HCP wife jokes started a long time ago...I won't go into how it evolved...to rib HCP and to put him down -- not his wife. I kind of wish they'd stop, because as great as it is to bag on The HCP, she certainly deserves better. And when she finally figures that out, I'll be waiting. ;)
