I don't want to see Lillard gas out towards the end of the season because he is playing to many minutes due to the fact that our backup Point guards suck. Who knows maybe it could be price but Smith just looks awful.

Side story: Jordan Farmar is dominating the Euroleague.

Shawn Livingston was waived by the Rockets. I'd look at him.

I'm not surprised. I was REALLY impressed by him last year, was strongly hoping we'd take a shot at him in the offseason, and was highly disappointed when he decided to go overseas.

Just curious, but why do some of think Nolan played so bad last night? Also, Ronnie Price will be a decent back up

He just has no flow at all. He makes shaky decisions, and he has no offensive game at all.

Price looked pretty good in preseason. Better defender than Lillard and seemed like he ran the offense well enough.

Any kind of offensive rhythm and flow just seemed to stall when he was initiating the offense ... I don't know, I don't think he was as horrific as some might think, but I don't necessarily think he's an NBA caliber point. He sort of looks like a replacement level 2 guard to me.

Im not sure if Nolan has gotten worse or its just really starting to get to me.

I just don't thin Nolan is a point guard. He played 10x better as the shooting guard in SL. That's not to say he's a great scorer, but I think once you remove the thought that he needs to run the plays and find the open guy, he seems to play better. This sucks because we drafted him to play point guard.... but if he can be serviceable this season as a shooting guard, I think that's where we need to put him.

Last I heard the Lakers are shopping Steve Blake to make room for Derek Fisher.

"Shopping." Like when I put all of my biodegradable detritus and refuse in my green bin and "shop" it to the curb on Thursday night.

I just don't think Nolan is comfortable running the team, yet. It'll take some time, but I think that given the chance he'll do fine some time this year.

Hmmmmm ... nah. He pretty much looks like the same player that he was at Duke. There's not much upside left given his age and athletic profile, he's probably pretty close to the player he's ever going to be.

Simply, no. He showed he has a lot of talent in summer league when he played 2G. He does well at the 2G because he doesn't have to think as much. By sheer repetition, he'll get to that place when playing PG.

It's a confidence thing, not a talent thing.

No, it's really not. Scorers are scorers and passers are passers. Playmaking is not something that can be taught. A player either has a natural ability to find the open man and run an offense, or they don't. It's like quarterback. How many QBs are out there who can call their own number and run the ball, but are lacking the natural ability to do checkdowns and make the correct pass? The road to the NBA is paved with combo guards who couldn't make the transition to point guard, and didn't have the height to play shooting guard.

See, I completely disagree with this sentiment when it comes to point guards. That position more than any other is about innate ability and temperament than simple repetition. The league's history is littered with the desiccated remains of "combo" guards who couldn't make the transition from small college shooting guard, to NBA point guard. If Nolan is going to succeed, he'll have to do it as a 2 guard or not at all and I think history is on my side.

Yawn, agree to disagree. Look at the PGs across the league - there are very few pure PGs. Basically, all of them - Westbrook, for example, struggled out of the gate.

If you guys were talking about Austin Rivers who basically never played PG before, I'd agree.
I don't see Nolan like I see Rivers.

I think Steve Blake would be a very good backup PG who is a veteran and would except the role on this team.

Mike James.

You guys will love him.

If he's not on someone's roster, that is.
