It did mention that the Blazers still have interest in Randolph though, the rest is obviously a leap in logic by a reporter speculating how a deal might take place. I am pretty sure they would not have mentioned the Blazers still have interest, unless somebody from the Blazers had called and inquired. Randolphs agent has requested a trade and is probably seeking trade partners, that is what agents do. So that being said, no need to shoot the messenger.

There is a big disparity in pay - so something else will have to be added going to Portland - and since they will not give you anything good for Joel - it will be expensive junk.

This requires either a 3rd team or it needs to be AR for the Bayless trade exception.

thread title is not "blazers might be offering joel for randolph (unfounded speculation)"

it says "or" not +

we are getting the better player

we would be taking a flyer on a player with upside that he may never realize. who's the more valuable player now is debatable. do you think joel couldn't crack the knicks rotation?

in any case joel's expiring by itself is potentially worth more than randolph in trade.

lets face it guys there are a ton of expirings this year and Joel's play is crap, nothing against him but coming back from those two surgeries is friggin tough. he's simply not worth much and you are kidding yourself if you think he is.

Mixum it's okay, you can just make a daily post that says "I can't comprehend what I read" and save us all a bunch of time.

neither is randolph. certainly not worth taking back extra salary in a pryz trade.

Even though Randolph can't make it off the bench in NY?

You get Randolph, and you hand him to Bill Bayno and let him go to work. Randolph doesn't have a whole lot of years left on his contract, so it's not a big risk, and he isn't paid that much. Meanwhile last time I looked Joel could barely move.

Sadly, I have to agree. There is a strong possibility that Joel is simply d-o-n-e.

Well given how much Pryzbilla is struggling and Randolph's upside (especially getting to play behind and learn from his closest physical comp in the league with Camby) who cares if it says the Blazers are offering him or not, this would be a very good move for the Blazers.

yep

you seem to be confusing the questions who cares if the blazers are offering joel with who cares if thread titles are inaccurate and misleading (something mixum does a lot).

would be a very good move for the Blazers.

or potentially a very bad one depending on what the other pieces involved were.

Asik looked good against us. if he looks that good against the rest of the league then we should try to get him.

I wonder how much of that had to do with how bad Joel looked. he was AWFUL that game. They were getting a ton of offensive rebounds early, and after the first few, I started to notice the majority were to his side or his guy.

Randolph measured in at his predraft a shade smaller then Aldridge both in height and length... it's my impression that Camby is both taller and longer then LA... so not really feeling the Camby comparison. I'd absolutely love to see AR pick up some of Camby's game as by most every account (including mine) dude doesn't do all the little things that you want your Bigs to do. What I observed his rookie year was he wanted to dribble and pop fadeaways with his scattershot J, while on the other end he went for every pump fake and didn't box out or set picks. Still there is no mistaking his physical gifts but dude needs to be less concerned about making Sportscenter and more concerned about what wins games

the thing with a Randolph Joel swap is I don't see the contracts on the Knicks roster to make up the 5M+ difference and thats before adding the Blazer 1st that they're supposed to want. Can anyone piece together a hypothetical thats halfway realistic that works? Turiaf + AR for Joel and both 2011 #1's is my best stab but that seems to favor Portland way too much

STOMP

I'm not talking about numbers. His offensive game looked pretty fluid, and he seemed active on defense. He looks like he could be a nice back up /emergency starter.

Think Lamar Odom when thinking about Anthony Randolph. Very similar skill sets and frames. Main difference between the two is Odom is much more of a passer while Randolph is a better shot blocker.

Both have range out to at least 15ft and both can put the ball on the floor and get to the basket. Odom played a lot of SF earlier in his career and I think Randolph could play spot minutes there as part of a big lineup because of his dribbling ability and athleticism. Guy averaged 4 trips to the charity stripe last year while only averaging 22min a game, and shot 80% when he got there.

This guy just oozes potential. I really hope Cho makes this happen. It's definitely worth the gamble.

also how are we not going after asik if hes being shopped. send them rudy if roy is back

Are you serious about trading Rudy for Asik?! I give you credit many times when others don't but trading Rudy for Omar Asik would be one of the worse trades in Blazers history.

When the injured players come back (not counting Oden, who's probably out for a longer time) I would like to see a starting lineup of Miller, Roy, Batum, LMA and either Joel or Camby with Rudy, Wes, Dante and either Joel or Camby coming of the bench. I think that's a solid 9 player rotation.
Armon would take Miller's spot after this year and Mills probably becomes expandable, unless a (logical...) trade is made that opens up another roster-spot in the back-court.

What makes you say that? Generally trading a redundant, underperforming reserve for a rookie who fills a position of need is seen as a good thing--not to mention the whole trading small for big thing. Why do you believe Rudy to be of so much greater value than Asik would be?

If Mills were expandable, I'd expand him to about 6'4". That would be sweet! :)

I know, boo, hiss. Sorry, I couldn't resist.

LOL at "expandable". I had to read it three time to make sure you did not mean "expendable"!
