Cannot. But I can tell you Blazers will never do it. RT @browns5719: Can you confirm rumors about Cavs offering 1/19 for LaMarcus Aldridge?

I wonder if it was a "go pound sand" or a "no, but keep working on it."?? What else could Blazers want? Thompson? Next year's first rounder?

I don't understand why they'd target LMA with Thompson in fold. If that was a real offer, that's pretty telling to how they feel about developing their frontcourt.

I don't know on the one hand I can see why we wouldn't trade Aldridge in this weak draft. But on the other hand it would be nice to have another young potential stud grow with Lillard as well as be in decent position to get a good pick in 2014. I don't think we will make playoffs with or without LMA next year unless Lillard become a superstar. So why not put ourselves in the convo for a top 5 or so pick instead of being bad enough to make playoffs, but good enough to not really have a shot at a top pick.

Of course the Blazers reject the offer. There is still plenty of time left and Aldridge is our best player. It's called playing hard ball.

If that were a real offer, it would be ridiculously insultingly bad. I'm OK trading LaMarcus for the right package. That isn't close.

Even I wouldn't trade LMA for just the #1 & #19.

Is this a reliable source? Pleas let me know so I can comment without being bullied

Shut up or I'll slug you one.

So #1 & #19 is definitely a no go, as it should be......Would a Waiters or Thompson and a 2014 pick in addition be enough?

I am not entirely convinced POR would deal LA, even if he does want out...but if they did, they would need more than the #1/#19 in a weaker draft....at least a good young player (Thompson or Waiters) and very possibly a 2014 or future pick....

Let's see lma for another year. He said he was working hard on the low block this summer. I suspect he will improve defensively as well. Who knows, maybe he will monster next season and we could get the too pick in next years draft; which is rumored to be one of the best drafts of the decade.

I see this so many times. Let's see so and so for another year. At some point players are who they are. LA will be 28 this year and a 7 year NBA vet.

Zach Randolph will never learn how to pass! :MARIS61:

Yes but lma will still get the same production. This draft is weak for stars and next season is much stronger. Also; moving lma to a team with cap could net us more cap space, plus a better pick in a better draft. We still have another year with him after next season.

He will not walk next season.

Correct. Career 1.7 assists per game

difference between passing and assists. but i guess you don't watch the game, just boxscores so that's all you can go by.

but he really didn't change...he is the same player, just had better teammates around him i guess...but then again we had to chase someone out of town with pitchforks i guess.

That's me all right. I don't watch any of the games.

Saying someone is a better passer is dumb because there is nothing to back it up.

2014 draft class is said to be one of the best in recent memory. If trading Aldridge is going to happen, I'd rather we do it now, suck and have a chance at Wiggins than wait and end up at 12 or worse yet without a pick next year

I'm always willing to trade, but I just don't think this offer is close. To me, the Cavs would have to at minimum find a way to get a second top 4 pick, something like the 1 and the 4, that would be closer to fair. Then the Blazers could draft Len or Noel at C, and Oladipo at SG, and have a bunch of money to go get West or some other PF for now. But even that would be borderline.

What were Howard, Melo, Paul traded for?

Yes, both or all ideally. I'd let it be known to other GMs that a deal is in the works to see if it shakes out any better offers. But #1, #19, Thompson is a pretty good haul, IMO. I'd then look to turn around and trade the #1 for another player and a pick.

Yeah, I would be shocked if CLE dealt the #1 and both Waiters AND Thompson, likely POR just gets 1 of them....My preference would be Thompson, b\c he still young 22, and while I don't think he will reach the level of LA, I do think he could be a 15\10 type guy for a long time at the PF spot, which is a downgrade from LA but not much...and then adding an Oladipo\McLemore (my preference) has the potential to be an upgrade...

I do think POR could work that #19 pick and Papnikalou to DAL for the #13 and then possible work the #10 & #13 into a top 5 pick and go after another player like Len maybe? Actually, if POR agreed to take back Marion (who has 1yr left) and give the rights to Papnikalou and 2 of thier 2nd rounders (DAL wants to preserve cap space it appears), I think that might be enough to get the #13...Then you have #1, #10, #13 & #19...use the #10 and #13 to move up to #4 (CHA) or #5 (PHX) and then use #19 on a player

So you trade LA, #10, both of highest 2nd rounders and rights to Papanikalou and you get

Tristan Thompson, McLemore (#1), Len (#5 from PHX) and whomever at #19 (Ledo?) & Marion who has 1yr left on his deal

and you likely insure that you keep that 2014 pick away from CHA.....and a chance to add another major piece to the roster next year (as well as cap space)

Won't happen lol, but fun to speculate....

I have a suspicion if Cleveland does deal for Aldridge; they have their sights set on LBJ when he is available. The 3 headed monster of LBJ, Irving and Aldridge would be extremely formidable.

When does our pick stop being protected from CHA? 2015? Better make sure we're not a lotto team at that point...

That trio has a better future than what Lebron has going on with the Heat.

Why do so many people keep talking like Cleveland has a shot at Lebron, anyway? Just curious.
