That should be 15 guaranteed contracts then.

Roy Rudy
Blake Miller Bayless
LaMarcus Travis Howard
Batum Webster
Joel Greg

That's 12.

Richie Cunningham, Pendergraph and Mills makes 15.

So one would assume it means that Ime and Collins are cut. Unless the team makes a trade to clear up a roster spot.

IF McMillan is trying to force KP's hand by implying he's going to start Joel and Blake (instead of Greg and Andre), and potentially play Ime minutes or find a roster spot on the team for him..this was a counter by KP to force Nate's hand into actually sticking to that dumb plan.

If you believe they're playing cards of course.

julius (I've just gotten into the habit of it now)

Maybe Mills will be cut later this month. Maybe they just wanted to give him some walking-around money?

Sweet after he gets cut he can get a job at Outback Steakhouse! :)

I don't think so. I think blazers have other plans for him. Like sending him to europe.

Why would they "send him to Europe," if they just signed him? And how exactly does that work?

Maybe Quickzano meant "to the D-League."

According to a quote on B-Edge (from Shamsports), a player apparently needs to officially be signed before being moved. Maybe this is simply a procedural task.

Also, there is no mention that this contract is guaranteed.

Can you imagine what Bayless is thinking right now?

Mills is signed - Guaranteed or non-Guaranteed? I haven't heard.

Either we're getting ready to trade Blake or Bayless thus needing a new third PG

OR

We're going to cut Ime and Collins (stupid IMHO) and bank on the future/potential again.

It looks to me to be KP saying to Nate - I'll see your bet and raise you!!!!

Wouldn't it be funny if KP traded one of Nate's announced starters????

Hmm...

ShamSports: You can't be waived if you ain't signed.

That's... a stupid thing to say (not you, Fez).

We don't need to waive him. We can simply not sign him, or we could renounce our rights to him, I believe. The only reason we'd renounce (or sign and waive him) is if we wanted to set him free to sign with another NBA team.

I'm thinking either he's about to get waived, some kind of consolidation trade is in the works, or ... oh who the hell am I kidding, I have no fucking idea what's going on.

Mills would have played overseas this year so I doubt we signed him just to give him money... Hi agent would likely do that till he was healed anyway. If he were to go to Europe we wouldn't have signed him at all. By signing him we are committed to keeping him or forfeiting him. There is no signing him and not having him utilize a roster spot unless we waive him in which case we lose him altogether.

KP has no reason to sign him just to cut him 2 weeks later. I tend to always suspect trades and they never happen, so Im trying not to suspect a trade this time, but the parts of the equation seem to spell T R A D E.

No, you were right earlier- there must be a trade coming.

Or, we're wanting to keep Mills by being certain to lock him up as our future PG. It sure as hell isn't going to be Bayless. Then we can either cut Udoka & Collins or a trade.

Outstanding.

Patty Mills is an NBA player. He just needs to the right niche. Is it in Portland? That's the question that I have, but the Blazers wouldn't have to sign him to trade his rights, would they?

No, but they would have to sign him to waive him and make him an unrestricted free agent; my guess is that no team would have any interest whatsoever in trading for him -- especially with his bum foot and his late second round draft status.

Why sign him to waive him? Why not just hold on to his rights for a year? Unless he won't play fo a calendar year.

Maybe he sees 3 other guards ahead of him on this roster and doesn't want to rehab his foot just so he can play for the Stampede.

Honestly, I'm not getting the move, becuase I guess they could have just as easily renounced his draft rights and achieved the same effect.

:dunno:

Which is why I think they are signing him to ... exactly why are they signing him?
