It's kind of moronic to think that black people don't want their neighborhoods policed. They just want them policed even handedly and fairly.
They want good schools, and strong families, and good jobs, too.
A U. of Houston hipster active in #BlackLivesMatter is suddenly all for police protecting his neighborhood.
I wouldn't trust Fox News to fairly present the story.
Divestment of police doesn't mean no police. It means get rid of the current police. I've never seen BLM say they want no police.
For the good of the entire country, the police need to be demilitarized across the board, and demonetized. It seems to me that it's a HUGE conflict of interest when the police budget is directly affected by how many tickets they write or how many people they arrest. There shouldn't be an incentive to go out and arrest more people. This is what has led us to the predicament that we're currently in.
Still reported by Fox. I don't see Fox quoting BLM site and their proposals.Go to the link the story was taken from. its linked in the fox article.
Oh, come on. Nothing? Why does the Bureau of Land Management need activists?

I don't see where anyone can legitimately claim he didn't want police. That's why I commented as I did.Look man, I don't care. I am just pointing out what is reported by two different news outlets. The guy didn't want police and now all of the sudden does because he was affected by crime. It's typical story with these types of people.
Oh, come on. Nothing?
This would have to coincide with the cessation of the so-called "War on Drugs." Good luck with that. Also with the threat of terrorism looming large in people's minds, it's just not going to happen in any kind of meaningful way.For the good of the entire country, the police need to be demilitarized across the board, and demonetized. What? Human beings?Look man, I don't care. I am just pointing out what is reported by two different news outlets. The guy didn't want police and now all of the sudden does because he was affected by crime. It's typical story with these types of people.
But this past week, the department made a cool $18,000 from a man in the South Bronx for the dire crime of having a pocket knife. In a tweet sent out Sunday by Police Service Area 7, a unit that patrols public housing in two Bronx precints, the department gloated that they “arrested a male for a gravity knife and vouchered $18,000 dollars cash for forfeiture.” (Adding insult to injury, whoever runs the Twitter account over as PSA 7 decided to include an image of the arrestee’s car registration in their trophy shot, thereby publicizing his name and address, down to the apartment number. Without a more official account, we’re not citing that information here.)
http://blacklivesmatter.com/11-major-misconceptions-about-the-black-lives-matter-movement/
(Misconceptions)
1. The movement doesn’t care about black-on-black crime. The idea that black-on-black crime is not a significant political conversation among black people is patently false. In Chicago, long maligned for its high rates of intraracial murder, members of the community created the Violence Interrupters to disrupt violent altercations before they escalate. However, those who insist on talking about black-on-black crime frequently fail to acknowledge that most crime is intraracial.
What? Human beings?

I find much of Fox reporting to be a farce. Some of it is fine, but this ain't it.
This is a flat out lie. Go to the FBI's website.
Violent crime in America between races is almost an anomaly, NOT COUNTING CRIMES BETWEEN CRIMINAL GANGS.
Could be partly/mostly because criminals commit crimes near home, but aside from gang warfare, around 90% of all violent crimes are committed against members of the criminal's own race.

Maybe they found his website and or some of his past work online or what. I don't know, but both outlets said the same thing. You are correct they could be lying, but the numbers don't lie and typically BLM supporters aren't one to want police. You guys can claim all you want that they want reform and this and that, but when you actually watch video of real life demonstrations it's an entirely different tune.
They don't want the police as they are.
The police need to change, not black people in their neighborhoods.
The police don't need to stop being police, they need to stop shooting people. They need to do their jobs, and the same way they would in any other neighborhood. And be held accountable for not doing so.
You wont see me disagreeing with this. We all agree that the militarization of police needs to stop, police brutality needs to stop. However, that is not what some of those people are protesting for. I've heard their shtick on multiple videos. Unfortunately those problem children have great influence over the masses.
Oh, come on. Nothing?
The problem as I see it is you mix militant cops with blacks in black neighborhoods and they kill people they likely wouldn't in other neighborhoods. The cops aren't put on trial in all but the most publicized and egregious circumstances.
It's on the police to mix well in those neighborhoods. If they take the view that they're a bunch of criminals and draw guns at the slightest provocation, they aren't going to effectively do their job. This is what BLM is opposed to and trying to fix.
And of course some of these shootings are just beyond acceptable. Like cops drawing guns against an unarmed man in a wheel chair and end up shooting him.
The police obviously need more members of the community as police officers policing those communities.
Even if I take the most optimistic POV on how things have been, the frequent images of white cops shooting unarmed black men (and women) is nothing less than embarrassment of the highest order. It is not the police's proper role to serve and PROTECT.
now that's an oxymoronholy politicians
