Blount is Suspended for the rest of the Year

Don't forget that there have been cases before where suspensions have be "rescinded" later on in the year. You know - player X has shown remorse and has worked towards being a better person and so we show them charity.

Really sad ending to what was likely a promising career ahead of the kid.

A good reminder that it only takes one stupid action to totally change the course of your life. Dude could have been a millionaire NFL player. Instead, he lost his temper and all of his sense for 90 seconds and is going to pay a pretty steep price.

Can't blame the program for taking that action, though.

Agree 100%.

Who is the Ducks #2 RB? Is he any good?

Who is the girl in your avatar? She's beautiful!

That with the combination of the Old Style and the Cubs hat create a need, much like that in a migratory animal, for me to go back to the friendly confines. It's too much.

Ironic are the "angel" wings on his shoulders.

If they were actually wings. The Native Americans wore feathered headdresses, not winged headdresses. Just as those on the uniforms are feathers and not wings.

With this stint on of the ESPN writers is stating that this is going to hurt his NFL draft position.

Maybe if he and the university decided to file for a hardship case and get his eligablity or next year they could claim mental illness. I am not being a smart ass here either. I would think if a mental health specialist was brought in to work with him on anger management, the NCAA would have to allow that as some sort of injury/illness.

espn says that he keeps his scholarship...so kinda like a redshirt year? i bet they try and get him this year back in eligibility.

Fuck no. If a family member had died and he needed to return home to help take care of stuff, or if he had endured a season ending injury half way through the game then maybe I could see an extra year of eligibility, but he's fucked.

At best he might be able to continue to practice with the team for the rest of the year and it's possible he could walk on and try out for an NFL team in the spring (There's no way a team will waste a draft pick on him) or he might have a shot with the CFL or arena league.

Basically he just flushed millions of dollars down the toilet the other night.

I think you're overstating things quite a bit. Guys as big fast and athletic as LB are not commonplace and the NFL is filled with guys who've fucked up one way or another. While he definitely cost himself some serious upfront/signing bonus dollars, I'll be surprised if he isn't drafted and expect to see him on someone's roster next season.

STOMP

I'd bet they lift the suspension 4-5 games from now because the powers that be claim his conduct since the incident has been exemplary, but we'll all really know that they just want their running back playing for the squad again.

LaMichael James. He is solid, but only a redshirt freshman. He had some of our better runs against Boise State. Remains to be seen how he'll do as the featured back. I liked his potential a lot more when he was the speedy back that would complement the bruising style of Blount.

Just a chick from a Cubs game holding an Old Style. Doesn't get any better than that.

Agreed. Unfortunately I haven't been able to get back to Wrigley this year. I went to Denver in August to catch them in the series against the Rockies at Coors, but haven't made it back to Chicago this year.

It's been a bad year to be a Cubs fan, though. [insert "aren't they all bad years?" joke here]

Injuries, key acquisitions not coming through, Cardinals running away with division. Ugh. There's always next year. :sigh:
