Looks like he's done all he can in Milwaukee. I love the kid personally.

If Portis really was done in MIL, I’d love to bring him in. Could we get a multi-year deal done at $12-15m a year? He’s going to be a big loss for them if he’s gone.

I don’t think there’s going to be a huge market for Nurkic and he re-signs. Portis is going to offer different skills that might result in him playing more minutes than Nurkic, even if he doesn’t start. The more I saw the Ant/Nurk PnRs, the more I saw the importance of his ability to set picks for Dame and Simons. Nurkic playing 25ish mpg with Portis playing the remaining minutes at C (plus some minutes at PF) would be a great tandem. To this point, Portis has been my favorite name for backup C, over Jalen Smith. Then draft or trade for a project C. Nurk/Portis/projectC would be a good rotation at the 5.

I saw Bones’ video on trade targets and saw some trades I liked. Hachimura + #10 for Keon + #7 would be a great get. Hachimura could start at SF or PF right away. I liked Williams + #30 for #36 and the MIL 1st as well. You can draft a high upside guy like Barlow at #30, and you can pick whoever slips at #10. This is a scenario where I wouldn’t mind grabbing a Mathurin or Sharpe if they fell that far.

Dame/Ant
Ant/Hart/
____/Nas/Barlow/Ingles
Hachimura/Williams/Watford/Ingles
Nurk/Portis/Brown III

That’d be your basic framework of a team where Portis would fit in great, with still the TPE and the #10 pick not included. Defensively under Billups, that team should be a lot better than in years past.

Other option is full MLE, what is that starting $10 mil 4 years 45mil total?

That wouldn't need Milwaukee approval.
Would it be possible for us to sign someone MIL would like for the MLE and trade him to MIL for Portis at higher than the MLE and we attach a 2nd or something? He’s going to make more than the MLE imo.

I've got to hand it to you. I don't know too many people targeting Kenrich Williams in a trade.

You can't sign and trade a player that wasn't on your roster at the end of the previous season.

Ingles would probably play some at backup PG. I would hope.

Great idea. Let's sign and trade Beal for Ben Simmons too.

it's theoretically possible as long as the salary difference between Portis and the MLE was 5M or less

it's practically impossible though because that trade would hard-cap both teams at the apron (154-155M) and the Bucks are already over the apron with only 11 players. Receiving a Sign-&-Trade contract in a trade hard-caps a team

and I would be a little surprised if Portland uses the full-MLE anyway because using the full-MLE hard-caps a team as well. Portland using that full-MLE likely depends on the new Simons and Nurkic contracts (assuming Nurkic re-signs). If Portland can re-sign both for around 30M, they might be able to use the full-MLE and still leave room for using some, or most, of their TPE's. If they re-sign for 40M, or more, then no. But as far as I'm concerned there isn't a market for the both of them as high as 40M
