Yeah, I was on my way to get Super Castro Bros. 2 for my Nintendo, but a group of Bosniacs were waiting for me by the home depot.

Those freaking Bosniacs! Too bad it takes 30 years in the Senate to calll a "Bosniac" a "Bosniac".

Wow...

Biden also referred to Darfur as to being in Chad.

Umm...

But Biden sounds so great saying this stuff, does it really matter if he's right or wrong?

specifically
The UN refugee agency is battling the elements, massive logistical obstacles and daunting security challenges to help hundreds of thousands of people uprooted by conflict in western Sudan's Darfur region and eastern Chad. As one sign of the continuing seriousness with which UNHCR views the crisis in this area, High Commissioner for Refugees António Guterres visited eastern Chad in December 2006 and West Darfur in April 2007, while UNHCR Goodwill Ambassador Angelina Jolie returned to Chad in early 2007 to see how the situation had deteriorated in the region since her last visit in 2004.

I'll freely admit that I didn't watch the debate tonight (I watched OSU drop a heartbreaker to Utah instead).

What happened with those pesky Bosniaks?

Edit:
it occurs to me that people are possibly thinking that Biden flubbed by calling people from Bosnia-Herzigovan, "Bozniaks"

Biden was talking about his trend toward intervention and brought up Kosovo as an example. Instead of "Bosnians" he referred to that group of people as "Bosniaks". For someone who claims to know the area so well, it was a little embarrassing.

Bosniak is the proper term ... maybe I'm missing something? Unless he meant to say Kosovars?

That is to say the muslim adhering residents of Bosnia-Herzigovina refer to themselves as Bosniaks, and people of all ethnicities could (I suppose) be more generally called Bosnians ... but even then, I'm still failing to see how his use of the proper name for slavic muslims in that region is a flub.

Not sure it's humble pie as much of as a serving of crow. Yes, I realize they mean the same thing.

Hey, my geography background finally came in handy!! Who woulda thunk it?!

Thanks for the correction. I'll count that as the thing I learned today. I always thought it was Bosnian.

To be honest I did too, until I took a 400 level Geography course last spring on Russia and the Balkan states.

I know that you are friends with Obama's campaign manager and all. You've also had quite the life experience's living in Chicago and D.C. But Biden is a longtime member and the chairman of the foreign relations committee, I'd say he knows a thing or two about Bosnia.

I've only been to Slovenia, Croatia, Serbia and Montenegro in the former Yugoslavia, so I would hope he knows it better than I do.

That's pretty cool man. I've been to Serbia and Montegro from that list. And I'm from Kosovo. Also been to Macedonia, lived there for about 3 months before moving here.

But yeah they call themselves Bosniak, we Albanians call them Boshnjak, and the Serbians call them Bosanci.

That kind of reminds me of the joke about the NW and what we 'call' each other.

In California, we're Oregon and Washington. In Washington, it's Oregon and California...and in Oregon, Washington and that boil to the south of us.

Duly eaten, although the more common terms is "Bosnian".

Anyhoo...how about Biden insisting that Article 1 of the Constitution establishes the Executive Branch? heh

Like I said I missed the debate, I'm going to watch the replay this evening when I get a chance.

Hey PapaG - maybe you should ask yourself who this General McLellan Sarah Palin kept referring to is.

Jealous much?

When I heard Biden say "Bosniak," I assumed it was part of their game plan, and to show that he had some deeper knowledge about what peoples' around the world are actually called.

After someone has a Barak Attack, do they truly become an Obamaniac or should they be called Obamanians?
