MEXICO CITY – Hijackers are holding a flight from Cancun to Mexico City.

Mexico Communications Secretary Juan Molinar says the plane is sitting on the runway at the Mexico City international airport.

Mexican news media report the hijackers are three Bolivian citizens who are demanding to talk with Mexican President Felipe Calderon.

Mexican network TV Azteca reported that the flight Wednesday was carrying 104 passengers.

MEXICO CITY – An airplane was briefly hijacked as it landed in Mexico City on Wednesday from the resort of Cancun, but all passengers and crew were released unharmed, officials said.

Television images showed police leading at least five men from the plane in handcuffs. Mexican news media reported the hijackers were Bolivian citizens demanding to speak with Mexican President Felipe Calderon.

Transportation and Communications Secretary Juan Molinar said all passengers and crew were safe, but would not say how many alleged hijackers were detained or give details of their motivation.

"Various people who participated in the act have been detained and we are investigating," he said.

He said there was no bomb on the airplane, although some passengers said one of the hijackers held a package that resembled an explosive device.

Passenger Rocio Garcia told the Televisa network that the crew made an announcement that the airplane was being hijacked once they landed in Mexico City.

Alrighty then...that was quick

crazy. my boss flew through that aeroporte today (well, yesterday when they were hijackng planes). gotta axe him bout' it tomorrow.

Mexico City is one of the last place you want to hijack a plane, lots of heavily armed federales up in that bitch. I fly through there about 5-6 times per year....last time I got stopped by a few armed policia. they are pretty serious there, esp. with all the smuggling going on...they just pace up and down the place with automatics...kind of like immediately after 9/11 with the army at the airports.
