The Brooklyn Nets' disappointing start to the season hit a low point with the loss of All-Star center Brook Lopez due to a broken foot.
The Nets announced Saturday in a statement that Lopez's status will be updated next week after a consultation with team physicians. But according to league sources, Lopez will miss the remainder of the season due to his ailing health and the Nets are operating as so.
The Nets confirmed that Lopez fractured the fifth metatarsal of his surgically repaired right foot, which he fractured in 2011 and later had a screw replaced in.
The injury was earlier reported by Comcast SportsNet New England.
