Hey all! Until Dame is traded, there is a possibility for 1,232,214.2694 threads to be made for trade ideas and rumors... that would be bad.

But I think that having just one big "TRADE RUMORS" thread will mean things getting buried and conversations being really overwhelming unless you're following that thread a couple of times a day, minimum.

So... kinda like we did leading up the draft where we had "All things Scoot" and "All things Brandon Miller", I was thinking we could have team-specific rumors and ideas and conversation... so I'm starting one with the Nets.

I said that the Nets were the perfect trade partner some weeks ago, and I still think they're the best unless Utah or a rebuilding team decides to throw their hat in the ring.

I actually think this one is pretty good:

Edited to use the cool trade machine :)

Simmons is, of course, a negative, but his contract only has two more years and there is still a chance he bounces back and is someone we could move down the line (or, heaven forbid, he's back where he was and the Blazers are in amazing shape).

Add in Phoenix's 2025, Philly's 2027, Dallas's 2029 and the Nets' 2030, and that's a good haul.

Add Whitehead and Clowney and I think that's close.

if 2 out of the total of five picks and clowney and whitehead, if they and salary becomes jarret allen? i'm in.

I would much rather have Clowney than one of those unknown picks in the future. He is long, a good rim protector, and can shoot from the outside. He could be a long-term piece at PF to go along with the others

There's also this from a couple of hours ago:

I would also hope that at least Clownley is included in the deal, if not Clownley and a 1st or Clowney and Whitehead. That’s a decent return.

Dame is under contract for the rest of his career. We get both.

Good players can come at any point in the draft, as we all know.

Even Dame…. If you followed the mocks up to his draft, I remember Portland having interest but he was a late-first rounder and then shot up the draft boards. They had us drafting him with Nards’ spot and then moved up to #6.

five firsts, no matter the team, seems like a decent haul to me.

It's a good point... do we want all our guys to be eligible for free agency/big contracts in the same two or three years, or do we want to have constant injections of talent?

Especially if we got Claxton, the need for Clowney seems reduced... although I like Clowney, too :)

Hell, I’d take Clowney, Whitehead, Simmons, and 6 1sts for Dame and Nas.

Many balk at the idea of getting Simmons, but it has upside: Simmons, even at his worst, would provide defense and rebounding as a forward, and hopefully keep us away from small ball by allowing Shaedon to play at SG. There's also the chance Simmons has a resurgance in Portland, a situation where there is really no pressure on him, and he wouldn't be in the spotlight. Simmons contract expires in 2 years, so wouldn't interfere with our ability to resign Sharpe/Scoot....

He does have some concerning injury issues though., so Portland should get a load of picks as well.

Maybe Brooklyn doesn't want Dame. But it's weird that they seemed so completely against trading Bridges.

This is what I'd want if it's just Brooklyn.

Scoot/Dinwiddie (I'd be looking to trade Dinwiddie)
Sharpe/Simons
Simmons/Thybulle/Nas/Rupert/Whitehead
Grant/Murray/Walker/Clowney
Claxton/Badji

Not bad, but I'd like at least one more pick, preferably in this years draft.

That tweet is misleading.. it should be "Portland SHOULD ask for more"

Fuck their teams over.
If you don't ask, then you're not going to receive.

No matter the opening offer from any given team, the Blazers definitely should ask for more. Of course, the other teams will know that so they shouldn't start off with a best, final offer.

I'd do that yesterday. I don't think there is a chance in hell that Brooklyn gives up that much

What I'm not sure about is whether Brooklyn views Simmons as a negative value. Are they willing to pay to move him?

Not redundant at all. One is a center and one is a PF IMO.

Seriously? Simmons is a negative and those Phoenix 1st rounders are practically 2nd rounders.

Ah. I thought they were about the same size, but Clowney didn't get measured at the combine, it seems, and maybe he's going to have a more expanded game as he matures.

Seriously, Nate, you should watch this. Pretty interesting stuff (Ben Simmons is by far the worst contract in the NBA):

I would be pretty happy if this was the result.

The deal being talked about with Brooklyn, Miami and us is

Dame and Nurk to Miami
Herro and Lowry to Brooklyn, Picks
Simmons, Claxton, Finney-Smith, Jovic, picks to Portland

Heat get Dame
Nets get Herro and rid of Simmons
Portland gets young bigs and picks
