Minutes:
-BRoy just relaxin right now.
-Just started working out and playing 5 on 5 at LA Fitness.
-Is a bit more cautious with playing because of contract stipulations, but has to compromise his love for the game a bit.
-Excited about a new contract, but he has perspective still, because he remembers his humble beginnings still.
-Excited that his kids will have resources he didn't have.
-Good negotiations on both sides. Will remain patient.
-Feels he's done everything he can to get his max contract
-Is 50/50 about getting what he wants.
-Wants to get it done as soon as possible so he can move on to workout and help out in luring free agents.
-Talks about Turk getting a five year deal, and him having only 1 year left.
-Hard to recruit when his situation isn't close to being done. (HOLY SHIT, PAY THE MAN, KP).

WTF are you talking about? He said he currently has one year left on his deal (Which is true if he doesn't get his extension).

He wont give a 5 year deal for a 25 y/o franchise player but he can for a 30 year old Turkoglu?

Actually it is 50/50 to "get what he wants". That is different than being done.
 
The deal will get done soon. I'm not worried.
 
Why would you play hardball with Roy, anyways?

The guy has done everything to get a 5 year max deal.

Roy single handedly turned this franchise around from the Jailblazers back to the Trailblazers.

And KP and Co. will only commit to four years?

I didn't listen to the interview. I don't have to.

Roy wants to get paid. I don't blame him. If he comes on and says that he wants to be a Blazer forever at any price, he's just undercutting his position.

KP should not give him the stars and the moon to stay with the Blazers. He should be offered a fair deal that keeps him in town but also doesn't overpay him. I hope that KP is less easily swayed by emotion than many on this board, and I would bet that he is.

Hmm, what do you mean "not overpay?" If this were baseball, and contracts could be arbitrarily high, I'd completely agree. But the NBA caps salaries. Are you saying that you don't think Roy is worth the max?

You can bet that his agent(s) coached him on what to say.

Doesn't the CBA basically save management from offering the stars and the moon? What did Bosh get? What did Carmelo get? Give him that.

Makes me glad that I don't have an emotional fan base overreacting to each of my contract negotiations. I guess that is part of the business, but people need to realize that any party that is not willing to walk away from a negotiation is going to get hosed. KP has a whole bunch of these coming up and I'm sure is providing the appropriate amount of pushback.

And why is KP the only bad guy here? Roy and his agent are on the other side. Nobody knows what was offered to Roy. R-E-L-A-X!

Roy wants MORE years, not LESS...it really doesn't make any sense as to why KP is dicking around
