Bucher: Portland In The Mix For Andre Iguodala?

In his ESPN.com chat, Ric Bucher discusses the trade chatter surrounding Philadelphia 76ers forward Andre Iguodala, which has been swirling for about a month now...
---------------------
I keep hearing Portland and Dallas are the best possibilities because those are deep-pocket teams not afraid to take on another big contract to get a smidge better. Don't forget the new CBA is coming. That's putting a drag on deal-making.
---------------------

My guess is it was more him speculating that we are two teams that would take on his contract because of rich owners, more than him actually hearing we are truly in the mix for him. But, I'd be for it, if Batum stays.

As long as we can keep Batum. Iggy is not a bad Brandon Roy replacement moving forward.

good gms find ways.... i would think philly would want expiring (pryz and maybe rudy)?

see gasol

see butler

kpee couldnt pull these off

if the blazers make this move... it would really tell us roy is fucked

I'd like to make this trade just so I could call the Blazers "Iggy and The Stooges."

I hope this happens. Iggy is a really great defensive player and an excellent up-tempo offensive player. It will be critical to find some shooting assuming they part ways with Batum, Rudy or ... hmmm ... who else is a shooter on this team?

Kevin Pritchard definitely didn't trade Steve Blake and Travis Outlaw for Marcus Camby. Never happened.

I think it depends on who Philadelphia wants, and who Portland trades.

Could be a good trade.

and I can't believe I'm about to say this..but good find Mixum. ;)

Just for fun if the Blazers were forced to give up Batum I'd demand Speights in return. He'd be a good backup to Aldridge.

That said, I'm not sure I want to let Batum to go at this point. He's still getting better and is currently starting to make me higher his overall ceiling.

The tale of two PER's

Last two years and also this season so far:

Iggy:
18
17
14

Batum:
13
17
18

Beyond 'PER' there are many other reasons why I wouldn't deal Nic for Iggy.

As long as Nic isn't leaving, Iggy would make a killer 6th man or pseudo-starter with an injured Roy.

I like the sounds of picking up Iggy to bolster our backcourt, and you know he'd love to play with Miller again for a playoff team. He's a really good player, not a #1 guy like his contract would suggest, but he'd be a good talent to add if they can balance the roster with shooters.

Playing around with the trade machine I think something like this with our pick and the NOH pick to philly...

I'd love to add Iguodala. He's one of my favourite non-Blazers. He's not a superstar, but he could be the second star the team needs, if Oden can become the #1 guy. And then if Batum continues to develop into a star or near star...the future could look bright again.

I really doubt a superior player will be available for Portland to acquire, without Portland giving up a ton, leaving little to put around that superior player. So if Iguodala can be acquired without giving up Oden or Batum...I'd be very happy.

Miller made Iggy a so much better player offensively. Those two reuniting could be great, but I wouldn't deal Batum for him. If we could make it work without giving up Nic I'd be all for it.

again... philly wants to lose contract. thats why good gms make gasol/butler type deals.

If Bucher reports it then you know its official: Portland will not trade for Iggy.

Shit that's true of almost every rumor. If you hear about it, it usually means the talks are already dead.

Miller and JPEC with the NOH 1st and our first for Iggy and Hawes works, but they probably want to get Nocioni's or Williams' deal in there, too.

I somehow doubt that would get it done ... maybe it would, but I don't see enough talent going back.

I think they're looking more to get out from Iggy's contract, than to get a talent-for-talent trade. But I don't know.

thats what im saying. iggy will be a gasol type deal

I've read that Doug Collins is torn on what style they want to go with. They have players like Brand, Nocioni and Hawes who are halfcourt players, then they have Holliday, Iggy and Young who thrive in an uptempo system. Its a no brainer to me what direction they should go in.

Its kind of similar to the situation in Portland. We have players with conrasting styles. Well, actually not really, just Roy :)

That's hilarious. I JUST posted a trade idea involving Iggy earlier today. I figured it would take Brand's huge contract to get Iggy on our team.
