I remember Purvis Short as getting 50 points in an NBA game. I might be wrong; didn't check.
Sacramento coach Bill Russell made Purvis Ellison the 1st pick in the draft (again I'm only 95% sure, haven't checked). I'm sure of this, though: Ellison was underwhelming due to undersize and constant injuries, not nervousness, but due to the rhyme was quickly nicknamed "Nervous Purvis." After his rookie year, the local P.R. Dept., fanboys, and media spread the "Never Nervous" nickname. After mean-spirited public criticism of the draft choice, the asshole owner fired Russell. The owner did the same to one of the greatest NBA coaches, Dick Motta, who made his last stop there on his way out of the league.
