The Lakers got swept, and to add insult to injury, they went out showing poor sportsmanship…Lamar Odom and Andrew Bynum were both ejected for flagrant fouls, but Andrew Bynum had the cheap shot of the year on Mavericks shooting guard J.J. Barea…My source from the NBA front offices tell me Bynum will be fined in excess of $100,000 and will be suspended for the first 20 games of next season…Bynum could have really hurt Barea, but it’s not the end of the world…If you ever played street ball, you would know cheap shots happen all the time. Does the punishment fit the crime…I think so. -TO

I know I should be more outraged over what Bynum did.....but the Mavs flop so much, it is tough to care. I *hate* floppers!
I guess Bynum also took exception to Barera elbowing Steve Blake in the face with a 30 point lead prior to driving to the basket and getting leveled by Bynum.
He put Gerald Wallace in the hospital with a collapsed lung 2 years ago with the exact same hard elbow to the ribs like that. 20 games seems about right.
I was discussing this with my roommate, we watch the play again, and looked for stories about it.
I too was claiming that was a dirty play until I looked into it more
After that game Bynum apologized to Crash thru the media for hurting him, said he was late on the rotation and was trying to get back in time to not get grilled by the coaches. Said it was 100% unintentional.
Also, he waited at the Bobcats bus for Larry Brown and gave a heartfelt apology to him. Larry even said afterwards it was an accident

You're one stubborn mother fucker. You really think you're going to convince these people that it was unintentional? In their eyes', Bynum murdered a 12 year old.
Wallace--I really don't think he intentionally did that.
Barea/Beasley were intentional.
The one on Beasley was dirty, but would've been fine if he didn't throw that elbow out. He needs to learn that. Hard fouls are fine...just do them right. I"m sure he felt vindicated by it after Kobe applauded the hard foul after the game.
It definitely is funny to see everybody's reaction to this. If this were the late 80's, it would just be another foul.
