Dave Zirin (who is a smarmy little twat himself) just BLASTED Canzano on OTL today regarding Canzano's article that came out directly after the Blount situation. Specifically Canzano's assertion that Blount should be behind bars because of his actions. Then they both argued about Blount's possible re-instatement. Zirin is plagued with white guilt and sides with minorities on every racial issue (he was on OTL yesterday citing with the Indian Tribes that are against college and professional sports teams using Indian named/themed mascots......yet he was arguing with an Seminole Indian about the topic. Indian had no problem with it, Jewish smarmy little white guy did).

Canzano even brought up the term "Jailblazers" when trying to explain how Oregonian's won't put up with this kind of thuggish behavior. Zirin thought the term "Jailblazers" was racist as well. Haha....what a great battle between two twits!

Zirin said this about Canzano's assertion that Blount should be behind bars for his punch:

"One of the most incredibly irresponsible things I've seen a sports columnist write in a long time"

"A terrible thing to put in a major newspaper"

Zirin was convinced that Canzano was fanning the flames of racism. :lol:

p.s. I didn't know that a Boise St fan actually took a swing at Blount. I didn't see that the first 100 times I saw the replay. It was a Boise St fan that instigated the entire melee that took place as Blount was walking off the field. He said "fuck you" to Blount, then as Blount starting moving a little towards the guy, the guy ran up and took a swing at him. Hit him in the neck. That's when Blount really freaked out. Fuck that Boise St fan. And I hate the ducks. And fuck that Boise St player that originally went up to Blount, hit him in the shoulder pad, and then talked shit. Now that I've seen every thing, I barely blame Blount for what he did.

Wrong. They're running the video highlighting the guy that did it. He's the first dude to say something to Blount as he's walking off the field. Taller guy, white shirt, no hat on. Definitely NOT a student. Probably a 40 year old guy. He says "fuck you" to Blount, then Blount says something back, approaches the stands, then the dude runs over to Blount and hits him right on the neck. Complete swing. If I wasn't at work right now I'd pull up the video and give the the exact time it happens so you can slow it down and look. Youtube is extremely slow here at work so it would take forever. I can do it when I get home, but I know for a fact that Blount got hit in the neck by a Boise St fan.

Zirin is an idiot. I was cracking up watching him argue against Indian mascots........with an Indian. So strange.
 
I think Blount should spend time in jail. I hate how athletes get a free pass. If you punch someone in the face on the street, or in the bar charges are pressed against you, and you probably spend at least one night in jail. But if it happens on a field or court they get a free pass. I think Blount deserves a 2nd (or 3rd) chance, but not until he did pay some sort of penalty other than a suspension. Also, I think the Boise St. player who slapped his shoulder, and this Boise St. fan who hit him also should face charges.

Hmm, the Boise player slapped him on the shoulder to get his attention first. Blount could probably have pressed assault charges against Hout and claimed self-defense in the heat of the moment. :dunno:

I definitely think that the Boise police should be looking for the BSU fan who punched Blount in the neck, as shown on OTL.

Me too. I don't understand why it's not being talked about more. Maybe people didn't know? The first I ever saw of the hit was today. I think the fact that a Boise St fan hit Blount before Blount freaked out changes every thing.

Canzano is making more of an ass of himself on the radio....he is seriously going sentence by sentence of the entire press conference telling listeners what he thinks they mean.
 
I don't listen to Canzano. I don't read Canzano. As far as I'm concerned, he doesn't exist.

In this segment I agree with Canzano. Dave was an idiot for playing the race card. John is right, Dave is the only one playing the race card. In the end, I think John was the one doing the blasting and he should have.

Nah, John didn't blast. Regardless of who was right or wrong, Dave Zirin was slinging arrows. John called him an "apologist." That's about it. But like I said, Zirin is a douche bag. Completely. He is one crazy dude.
 
Blount should do jail time, lots of it.

If a fan hit him, he should too.

The player who got sucker punched did nothing wrong that I could see. Just tapped his shoulder to get his attention and maybe mocked him a bit for being such a loser. That's expected when you get outplayed so obviously after popping off pre-game.
 
I listen to Canzano and read his stuff from time to time...only because it's funny how wrong and idiotic he is 90% of the time.

He lost a TON of respect from me when he COMPLETELY misreported the Brandon Roy contract negotiation incident. That was just unprofessional and completely uncalled for. It's one thing to be controversial, but its something else to flat out lie like he did.
