He's confident and coach-like on the floor. He draws comparisons to Bob Cousy with his game... great vision... great instincts... plays with maturity and without fear. His long-range shooting is suspect, but so was Jason Kidd's and Steve Nash at his age. Like Rudy Fernandez, he likes to gamble on defense. Not sure you can get away with that at the point. Blazers fans know what I'm talking about.

I would have loved him if it weren't for that fact that we are already so young, and I am looking forward to not having a rookie playing a prime time role next season. Sure, if Rubio could be had for a decent price, say any mix of two/three, trade exemption, Webster, Outlaw, Sergio, Bayless (I really want to keep him, but if we had Rubio I would live), Frye and other scrub material, 3mil cash/take back bad contract, some of our 27 second round picks/first round.

exactly.. I love what Bayless brings (will bring) to the table, but there are some players I would give him up for if he was the asking price in the deal (other than the obvious superstars that is)

Gambles on defense? The kid is a teenager built out of pipe cleaners and trying to defend grown men. It's not like he could defend people straight up.

If you believe thwe scouting reports, you have to at least seriously consider trading somebody like Bayless or Rudy...but then you still need a vet PG to serve as a bridge until he is ready to play big minutes at the NBA level.

I like Miller, but his shooting is atrocious.. remember how it was when Blake hurt his shoulder and it was Sergio and Bayless trying to spread the floor? that scares me that it will happen again.

Sounds good to me. Keep Blake around as a Steve Kerr style "designated shooter", and that should work!

The problem is, they couldn't create for others properly. Miller wouldn't spread the floor, but he'd get other people better looks and play very good defense.

With a hopefully more effective Oden, Aldridge and Roy, the team should have the scorers...having a point guard who can set them up would be a big boon even without the shooting.

If Rubio goes to this years draft he'll probably be the best prospect after Blake Griffin. The chances of the Blazers getting Rubio are slim to none.

I like Rubio, but I don't think he is all that great. The guy can't finish or hit jumpers to save his life. He reminds me of Jason Kidd without the D. Jason Kidds problem his whole career is that he wasn't a well rounded player. He could get other buckets, but when push came to shove, other teams just made him a shooter and it was over.

Rubio didn't exactly set EuroLeague on fire right now, or at least in these stats that I found.

2.4 ppg, 2.6 assists, 2.4 TOs, 28% FG, 33% 3-pt. He only started 2 out of 5 games and is averaging 13 minutes?

Rubio's wrist is still healing from the surgery he needed to get after the injury in the Olympics gold-game - he had a fractured ligament.

Do not let his "stats" color your view of his value as a player. He is a real pest on defense and he controls the offense great. Given how young he is - he has a very bright future in front of him.

Too some extent I agree with you.. but where I start to disagree is how often Roy got stuck in the air or under the basket when he drove because the D was just able to collapse... there wasnt the shooter to kick it to. Blake served that role pretty well, and if Bayless can get consistent he will do well at it too.. But I do understand your point on improved Oden Aldridge and Roy.

And Kidd probably had/has 100+ lbs on Rubio, but was equally as quick.
